Riverside offers British international education across four Prague 6 sites, with a secondary-campus move planned for 2028. Budget EAL separately and check Czech provision, the exact site and full-term notice conditions.
Riverside International School is an independent British international day school in Prague 6, founded in 1994 and operated as Riverside o.p.s., a Czech public-benefit company. It offers a British curriculum toward IGCSE and the IB Diploma, with a US-style school diploma alongside it.
Its Christian ethos is part of the stated school identity, while admission is open to all nationalities and religions, including families with no faith. Ask how that ethos appears in assemblies and daily practice. Admission depends on a vacancy and the school’s ability to meet the child’s needs.

Primary’s Vltava-side site also hosts some older pupils’ PE. Senior High has laboratories, recording, arts and drama spaces and an Innovation Centre.
The new-campus plan announces a unified Junior and Senior High at Evropská 176/16 in September 2028, using five renovated buildings. Early Years and Primary remain where they are. The school estimates five minutes on foot from Nádraží Veleslavín metro and Nad Džbánem tram, or eight from Veleslavín railway station. Treat these as plans until the move is confirmed.
Riverside is described here as a day school. Its Ranch offers overnight school-in-nature trips, not routine boarding. A Czech page mentions accommodation for high-school pupils, but the 2026/27 schedule gives no boarding rate. Obtain current written details if accommodation is essential.
Early Years follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with play-based learning. The sample day allows arrival 08:00–09:00 and departure at 15:00. Skills for Life runs 15:00–15:45; paid Extended Day is listed to 16:45, while the FAQ also mentions 17:00. Confirm the chosen arrangement and price. Half-day Nursery is priced below; other part-day options are by request. Under-threes are directed to Global Concepts Pre School.
Primary follows English and Welsh national objectives, with phonics, inquiry, computing, making activities and specialist teaching. Its 2026 booklet gives arrival from 08:15, lessons 08:25–15:25 and clubs 15:30–16:20.
Junior High follows Key Stage 3, the English lower-secondary stage, not the IB Middle Years Programme. Eight forty-minute periods cover core subjects, humanities, languages, arts, design, PE and outdoor activities. Tutor time starts 08:15, the last lesson ends 15:15, and clubs run 15:30–16:30.
Years 10–11 lead to Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE, the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. The programme names English Language and Literature, Co-ordinated Science, mathematics, PE and five electives, with examinations in May/June of Year 11. Years 12–13 offer the IB Diploma, examined in May of Year 13.
Pupils earning 23 credits also receive the Riverside High School Diploma with a grade-point average, supported by the school’s New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation. The school diploma and IB are distinct qualifications. Counsellors help with UK UCAS and US Common Application processes and PSAT, SAT and ACT tests. Confirm the actual qualification requirements of the intended university.
English is the teaching language. The FAQ says some pupils arrive without English. English as an Additional Language (EAL) is offered across grades but costs extra. Agree hours and suitability for the child, especially before an IGCSE or Diploma transfer; availability of EAL does not guarantee access at every starting level.
French, German, Spanish, Latin and Czech are named from Primary. An IB home language outside the timetable may be studied through a self-taught route with an external teacher, which Riverside says it helps organise.
Czech nationals are jointly registered with a Czech school under the arrangement described by Riverside. The school is listed as an authorised foreign school for compulsory attendance. Its Czech for Czechs handbook names ZŠ Járy Cimrmana in Lysolaje, allowing testing at Riverside. The programme requires a Czech level the school accepts and may be declined.
Junior High Czech for Czechs runs on two mornings, 07:30–08:10, with official tests four times a year. In Senior High it becomes an elective plus Czech history one morning weekly and ends in Year 10. This is not a separate bilingual primary school or a Czech maturita route. Ask about recognition for later Czech university study. Czech school information.

Learning support, tutors, nurses and mental-health counsellors are described. Bring current assessments; the school must determine whether it can provide suitable support.
The FAQ gives a maximum class and tutor-group size of 18, with some specialist High School groups at a 1:8 ratio. Progress tests cover Years 1–9; CAT4 cognitive-ability assessments apply to newcomers and Years 3, 6, 9 and 12. PASS, a pupil-attitudes survey, covers Years 2–13. Parent conferences occur three times yearly.
Years 6–13 receive a laptop; Years 7–13 may take it home. Uniform colours are blue, white, red and black, with a High School colour code. Confirm purchase costs.
The official schedule is in CZK, with ages on 1 September 2026. Discounted annual payment must be made before 30 June. Term invoices are issued in June, December and March. Midyear tuition uses remaining weeks, counting a partial week as full.

Application costs CZK 10,000 and the deposit CZK 12,000; both are non-refundable if the family withdraws. Sibling discounts are 3% for the second child, 6% for the third and 10% for further siblings.
The need-based Reduced Tuition Scholarship is limited and requires annual application to finance@riversideschool.cz. It cannot be combined with sibling discount.
After the second full week of term, overdue payments incur 1% monthly interest, stated as 12% annually. Unpaid fees by midterm can result in suspension and records being withheld. Midterm departure requires the full term’s fee. Annual payers may recover remaining complete terms with one full term’s notice; the PDF example requires notice by the last day of Term 2 for non-return in September. In some cases, the school may require non-refundable annual payment to confirm the year. Clarify the applicable contract.
Transfers may be in CZK, GBP, EUR or USD, using the Czech National Bank rate on the first day of the month of receipt; office card payment is also listed. Use current school payment instructions.
A calculated first-year Year 7 cash total is CZK 652,000: 10,000 application + 12,000 deposit + 630,000 discounted tuition. EAL adds CZK 63,000 annually without an annual-payment discount. Termly Year 7 tuition alone totals CZK 663,000, before application, deposit and extras.
Current 2026/27 prices for transport, lunch, examinations, uniform and Extended Day are not established here. The following are explicitly 2025/26 references.
A free shuttle links Hradčanská, Bubeneč and Sedlec. Notify the office by 14:00 for an irregular passenger. Junior and Senior High pupils may also use it without advance booking, but must reach the stop on time or make their own way home if they miss it. This unbooked option is not available to Primary or Early Years pupils.
Paid Yellow routes serve Prague 5/Smíchov, Green Prague 1–2, and Red Horoměřice/Nebušice. Booking is for a full term, with afternoon departures at 15:35 and 16:35.

Senior High is not covered by that table. A replacement chip was CZK 50. Cancellation was required by noon on the preceding working day to avoid a charge; confirm current terms.
The school reports a March 2026 British Schools Overseas inspection rated Outstanding in all listed categories, for the third consecutive inspection. This is a dated inspection finding, not a ranking against Prague alternatives. Its accreditation page also lists accreditations, memberships and awards; these categories should not be treated as identical.
Undated results blocks report 98% of pupils with five or more IGCSE A*–C grades, 93% including English and mathematics, and an IB average of 35 with 96% passing. Other FAQ percentages differ, so ask for the dated cohort report if results are central to your decision.
Choose Riverside for a British-to-IB education in Prague 6 if its ethos, language provision and individual support fit the child. Confirm the current building, Czech arrangement if relevant, EAL charge and full-term notice obligations before accepting.

Deutsche Schule Prag is a co-educational day school in Jinonice. Its German and Czech routes do not have the same entry rules or qualifications, so families should establish the child's route before comparing fees.

Prague 4Nový PORG suits families seeking a selective Czech education with substantial English, rather than an English-medium international school. It offers primary school, four- and eight-year gymnázium routes, and the IB Diploma in the final two years. The admissions route and language expectations differ sharply by entry point.
