International School of Prague (ISP) is an English-medium day school for ages 3–18 at Nebušická 700 in Nebušice, Prague 6. Its main distinction is the availability of all four International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes, including more than one upper-secondary route. It suits families who want that flexibility and can meet the school’s language, support and financial conditions.

The campus is beside Divoká Šárka’s natural landscape on Prague’s northwestern edge. The school’s estimate of twenty minutes from the centre is not a home-to-school journey guarantee. Test the route from the intended address. No boarding is advertised.

Programmes and leaving qualifications

The school uses these stages:

  • Early Childhood Foundations (ECF), beginning at three. ECF 3 and 4 have half-day and full-day options; ECF 5 has a different fee structure.
  • Elementary Grades 1–5: Primary Years Programme (PYP).
  • Middle Grades 6–8 and Upper Grades 9–10: Middle Years Programme (MYP).
  • Grades 11–12: Diploma Programme (DP), Career-related Programme (CP), or an ISP Diploma pathway with broader electives.

All graduates earn the ISP Diploma, a US-style high-school qualification associated with the school’s New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditation. Most pupils also pursue the IB Diploma. CP combines IB study with a more applied career-related pathway. These qualifications are not interchangeable, and none should simply be labelled a Czech maturita. Discuss recognition and subject requirements with the intended university.

Upper School offers French, German and Spanish and access to Global Online Academy courses. College and career counselling supports subject choice, applications and standardised tests; it does not promise a university place. Programmes and Upper School.

Language and support fit

English is the teaching language. English as an Additional Language (EAL) support is available from Elementary through Grade 10. An English test may follow the application review. Do not assume the same support continues into the Diploma years; confirm academic-English readiness for Grades 11–12.

Ask how Czech is taught, with which groups and hours, and whether the child’s home language is offered. The cited information does not establish a Czech-for-all rule.

Learning Support and counselling are available, in class or small groups where appropriate. Submit a current Individual Educational Plan and psycho-educational assessment if relevant. The team determines whether ISP can meet the pupil’s needs. Referrals for diagnostic testing, speech therapy or psychological support may be external. Student support.

Admission approval is not a place offer

ISP states a non-discrimination policy and considers admission as space and resources allow. The application sequence is contact, requirements check, fee payment, document upload, review and enrolment contract.

Within three weeks of both a complete file and paid application fee, the school says it responds with approval, rejection or further review. Approval alone does not reserve a seat. For August entry, capacity is assessed at the end of April. Approved applicants are then admitted as space allows; others may enter a waiting pool if their parents wish. Ask about the specific grade, not a general statement of availability. Admissions.

Campus: distinguish facilities from plans

The school describes a Learning Innovation Hub and specialist science laboratories. Its Campus Roadmap includes a Design & Innovation Centre, Elementary cafeteria, sensory and multipurpose space, and kitchen and cafeteria renovation. Confirm which projects are complete and how any remaining work affects the child’s day. Campus.

Arts, sport and service activities are part of school life. Ask how Service as Action in MYP and creativity, activity and service (CAS) in DP are organised for the intended year. A general campus description does not establish a particular timetable.

Fees for 2026/27

Fees are quoted, invoiced and payable in Czech koruna. Placement is not guaranteed until invoices are paid. The Capital Assessment Fee (CAF) supports construction loans and major maintenance and is charged every year from ECF 5 through Grade 12, not just on entry. Official fees.

Application CZK 9,000
Newcomers’ Fee, ECF 5–Grade 12 CZK 52,000
Annual CAF, ECF 5–Grade 12 CZK 78,000

ECF 3–4 pupils do not pay the Newcomers’ Fee on entry but pay it when moving into ECF 5. Pupils returning within the next two academic years after departure do not pay it again. Application, Newcomers’, CAF and re-enrolment deposit are non-refundable once paid.

A calculated first-year Grade 6 total is CZK 813,000: 9,000 + 52,000 + 674,000 + 78,000, before meals, transport and additional trips.

Cash is accepted only for the application fee; CZK cheques must be drawn on UniCredit. Use the school’s current payment instructions. For a midyear start, obtain current proration terms from admissions: the 2026/27 page’s referenced note was still labelled 2025/26. Also ask about early departure before signing.

Scholarships and our view

Scholarships are available for Czech citizens and other Czech Republic residents in Grades 6–12, based on merit and need. Applicants begin with ordinary admission. The cited cycle’s deadline was 27 February; confirm the currently open cycle. Gift-funded awards may include sports and cultural trips and college-test costs, including PSAT, SAT, preparation and IB, according to the family’s situation. Those benefits are not general tuition inclusions. Scholarships.

Choose ISP for English-medium IB continuity with distinct upper-secondary options, if the individual language and support plan works. For a family staying in Czechia, make Czech learning and university recognition explicit parts of the discussion.
