Lënster Lycée International School (LLIS) is a Luxembourg state lycée in Junglinster, with Accredited European School provision from kindergarten to the European Baccalaureate. Its first European Baccalaureate session was in 2024. The same school also offers Luxembourg national streams, which have separate admissions arrangements.

This is a day school without boarding, at 2, rue Victor Ferrant, L-6122 Junglinster. For pupil admissions, use +352 276 963-220 or secretariat.eleves@llis.lu. The European Schools directory also lists the general switchboard, +352 276 963-1, and secretariat.direction@llj.lu.

European classes and languages

The FAQ describes three stages:

Stage Years Published ages
Kindergarten Two years 4–6
Primary P1–P5 6–11
Secondary S1–S7 11/12–18/19

The school calls these ages standard minimums and says pupils may be one year older. Confirm placement using the child’s birth date and school history.

The European classes have English, German and French sections. The section language should be at mother-tongue level or equivalent. It is the child’s first language in the school programme, called L1; L2 and L3 refer to additional languages studied. Luxembourgish is compulsory for two periods weekly in primary and S1–S3, and optional from S4. European and national classes share the site.

A significant dating limit remains: the FAQ’s class table is labelled 2024–25. It lists English and German secondary sections through S7, but French through S6. This older table does not establish French S7 availability for 2026–27. Confirm the exact section and year with admissions before planning the final Baccalaureate years.

The FAQ discusses provision for SWALS, pupils without a matching language section—here, those whose L1 is not English, German or French—as an aim subject to number restrictions. That is not a guaranteed place or language offer; ask for a child-specific confirmation.

Admission priorities and dates

Priority goes to the catchment area around Junglinster. LLIS is a Luxembourg public Accredited European School, not a Type I European School such as Luxembourg I or II. Do not transfer those schools’ Category I–III admissions and fee rules to LLIS.

The registration page separates European and national procedures:

Route Published 2026 registration period
Primary and secondary European classes Priority registration, 1–15 March 2026
National 7P / 7P FR classes By the end of 26 June, with the listed 2026 documents
Other national classes, excluding 7P and European classes 16–20 July, 08:00–16:00

The March priority period has passed. The June and July dates do not establish deadlines for European S1 or other European classes. The cited primary/secondary window also does not establish a kindergarten deadline.

The FAQ says midyear enrolment is not possible except for families arriving from abroad. It describes a presentation evening in early spring and requires updated school records by the end of June after the initial form. There is no routine entrance test for every applicant, but some may be asked to take a test in L1, L2 and/or mathematics.

The registration extranet is available in English, French and German, and the school also links an enrolment form. Use the current registration page. For an arrival from abroad or a late application, contact the pupil office: the cited pages do not establish a separate late-application deadline or current waiting-list position.

Costs and daily arrangements

The FAQ places the European classes within the state-school system. The cited pages do not give a tuition amount or an explicit no-registration-fee statement. Confirm any charges directly rather than importing a fee rule from another public international school.

The school describes a free school-transport network, with details on its timetables page. A restaurant and cafeteria are available, but the FAQ does not list meal prices. After-school activities run Monday to Thursday until 18:30; ask which are available to the child’s age group and what they cost.

Our view

European School Luxembourg I follows different admissions rules, while St George’s Luxembourg offers a different English-curriculum route. Compare qualification, eligibility and journey rather than treating them as interchangeable.
