EIDE — a public Accredited European School across three southern sites

EIDE is a Luxembourg public school from M1 through S7. It operates in Differdange, Esch-sur-Alzette and Schifflange, with French, English and secondary-level German sections. Its current admissions page still shows the closed 2026 window and an older 2025–26 site table.

École Internationale Differdange et Esch-sur-Alzette, or EIDE, is a co-educational Luxembourg public school. It teaches the European Schools curriculum from nursery through the European Baccalaureate.

EIDE is an Accredited European School, not a Type I European School. It is open to applicants beyond families employed by European institutions, and the school says it charges no registration fee.

This is a day school. It does not advertise boarding.

Four addresses across three towns

EIDE is not a single two-campus school. Its current pages identify provision in Differdange, Esch-sur-Alzette and Schifflange.

  • Differdange nursery and primary: 3 rue John Ernest Dolibois.
  • Differdange secondary and headquarters: 6 rue John Ernest Dolibois.
  • Esch-sur-Alzette primary and secondary: 91 rue Victor Hugo.
  • Schifflange ACCU integration classes: 201 rue de Noertzange.

The European Schools record still shows former Differdange addresses and the old eidd.lu domain. Use EIDE’s own current contact page for travel and correspondence.

Curriculum and leaving qualification

EIDE provides two nursery years, five primary years and seven secondary years under European Schools rules. Its pupils can continue to the European Baccalaureate; the first EIDE session took place in 2023.

The school also offers the French-language voie préparatoire and ACCU integration classes. These routes follow relevant Luxembourg technical-secondary rules rather than the European Schools regulations used by M1–S7.

Families considering upper secondary should request the current option grid. EIDE’s own 2026–28 guidance warns that timetable and group size can prevent some subject combinations from running in every section.

Language placement

EIDE has French and English sections from nursery. Its German section begins in secondary.

Parents do not simply choose the child’s first language, or L1. The director assigns the section matching the child’s mother tongue or dominant language when that section exists.

If the position is unclear, EIDE can arrange comparative language tests. Its admissions page says this can happen at any age, including nursery, and that the L1 decision is normally final.

Pupils whose dominant language has no section may enter a French, English or German vehicular section as SWALS. They then study their dominant language as L1, subject to the school’s provision.

Ask exactly which L1, L2 and section would appear in the offer. For later entry, confirm that prior language and subject choices fit the available timetable.

Published site offer is out of date

The admissions page still labels its campus table 2025/2026. It shows the following structure, but families should not treat it as a confirmed 2026–27 or 2027–28 map.

Site Offer shown on the dated table
Differdange French and English M1–S7; German S1–S2 and S4–S7
Esch-sur-Alzette French P1–S3 and VP1–VP3; English P1–S2; German S3 and VP1–VP3
Schifflange French and English ACCU classes

The missing German S3 at Differdange and its appearance at Esch illustrate why the location matters. Ask inscriptions@eide.lu for the live year-by-year table.

Admissions

The current page still gives 1–15 March 2026 for 2026–27 new-pupil applications. That window is closed, and no 2027 application dates are published there yet.

For that completed cycle, the first period prioritised applications to M1, P1, S1, VP1 and ACCU. Applications received by 15 March ranked ahead of late applications.

The same page says P2–P5, S2–S5 and VP2–VP3 were full, apart from exceptional vacancies. Treat that as current page information for the named cycle, not a permanent ban on later entry.

Applications use the EIDE portal, and decisions are sent by email. The school automatically re-enrols existing pupils.

Support and wellbeing

EIDE’s educational and psychosocial department includes SePAS, a socio-educational service, an ESEB special-needs team and a guidance and integration unit. It also manages individual health-support plans.

The ESEB describes work on learning, attention, behaviour, communication and school adjustment. It can assess needs, advise teachers and contribute to reasonable accommodations and inclusion files.

This structure does not guarantee that every placement can be supported. Send reports early and request written confirmation of staffing, adjustments, language support and any limits at the child’s site.

Costs

EIDE repeatedly states that it is a public school open to all without a registration fee. Its public pages do not show a tuition table comparable with a fee-paying international school.

That does not establish that meals, transport, care, activities and trips are free. The reviewed pages do not provide one complete current schedule for those costs.

Is EIDE a good fit?

EIDE suits families seeking a public European curriculum in southern Luxembourg. It offers a direct route to the European Baccalaureate and includes preparatory and integration provision.

The difficult part is matching language, year and site. Confirm all three before comparing EIDE with École Internationale Mersch Anne Beffort or the Type I European School Luxembourg I.

Use the Differdange overview and Luxembourg guide for wider planning. Do not rely on the old campus table or the completed 2026 admissions window for a future application.
