Lycée Français de Vienne (LFV) offers French national education from age three through Terminale, the final lycée year, in Vienna’s ninth district. It is a useful choice for families seeking continuity in the French system and the baccalauréat, rather than an English-medium IB route.
The school belongs to the AEFE network, France’s overseas French-education network. Its main address is Liechtensteinstrasse 37a, 1090 Vienna. The relevant first questions are the child’s French readiness, the appropriate class and the complete annual cost. School website.
Programme and language options
The pathway runs through maternelle, the preschool stage; élémentaire, primary; collège, lower secondary; and lycée, upper secondary. The Diplôme national du brevet (DNB) is the lower-secondary qualification. The baccalauréat, or Bac, is the final upper-secondary qualification.
LFV reports 100% Bac success in 2025, with 95% receiving honours and 60% of leavers continuing studies abroad. Those school-reported outcomes do not guarantee a future pupil’s results or university admission.
The languages page describes an optional international section from 6e through 2nde, the first collège year through the first lycée year, at €650 annually. It also names the Baccalauréat Français International (BFI), an international option within the French baccalauréat, not the IB. Confirm the offered language pathway, entry requirements and space in the relevant group.
Registration and visits
Create or reopen a file on EDUKA, the school’s enrolment platform, using school code 534624. A place is confirmed only after payment of the non-refundable €900 first-registration fee. Re-enrolment is annual on the same platform.
The registration page requests a Meldezettel, Austria’s residence-registration document. If it is not yet available, contact the school. The cited notes do not establish a universal test threshold, so discuss placement and French-language needs directly.
An open morning for maternelle and élémentaire is listed for 14 October 2026, 09:00–12:00.
LFV is presented here as a day school. The additional-fees document includes a Theresianum boarding item, but does not by itself establish eligibility or the arrangements for a particular pupil. Enquire directly if external boarding is needed.
Tuition and other charges for 2026/27
The 2026/27 price list gives annual tuition before grants, allowances or AEFE scholarships: €7,530 in maternelle, €7,460 in élémentaire and €7,625 in collège and lycée. The school council sets tuition each year. The other charges on the same list are below.

Canteen rates are listed before any AEFE bursary support. The examination rates apply to LFV pupils and pupils from French-curriculum schools approved within the AEFE system.
The languages page also gives €900 for BFI in 2026/27, conflicting with the extras schedule’s €950. Use the fee schedule’s €950 for provisional budgeting and obtain written confirmation before paying.
Lunch is compulsory from maternelle through the end of collège. Lycée pupils may change between the meal plan and externe status, meaning no school meal plan, by notifying the school at least fifteen days before the previous term ends.
Payment is due within fifteen days of invoice. The information lists EDUKA, bank transfer and direct debit, with three- or nine-instalment arrangements. Confirm which arrangement applies to the family’s invoice.
Our view
Choose LFV if French-curriculum continuity and the Bac support the child’s plans in Vienna or a later move. The international section and BFI are options within that French pathway, not substitutes for checking language readiness.
