AMADEUS International School Vienna is a co-educational day and boarding school at Bastiengasse 36–38 in Währing, Vienna’s 18th district. It serves children from age 3 through Grade 12. Boarding is available for ages 11–18.
The campus page describes 40,000 m² of green grounds, tram access to the centre and an estimated 40-minute taxi journey from the airport. A shuttle service is also available. Check its route and your daily journey before choosing a day place.
Programme and fit
Teaching is in English through the International Baccalaureate (IB): the Primary Years Programme for younger pupils, the Middle Years Programme for the earlier secondary years and the Diploma Programme for the final school years.
The music and arts academy makes AMADEUS worth considering when a pupil wants arts study alongside the IB. Ask the academy which courses are running for the intended entry year and which cost extra.
For a boarder, ask to see the residences and discuss evening supervision, weekend routines and holiday closures. A campus tour alone will not answer those questions.
Admission
The admissions information lists a non-refundable €400 application fee. Enrolment and capital fees follow on acceptance. The public pages do not give a general application deadline or a waitlist; ask about the intended grade and start date.
Fees for 2026/27
The fee page gives ranges rather than a separate amount for each grade. Request the exact fee for the pupil’s class. Annual or termly payment is due in advance. Instalment arrangements are available for termly payment, but the page does not give a financing percentage; request the payment schedule and any surcharge.

Early Years 0–2 and Early Years 3 are the school’s class labels in the fee table, not children’s ages. The capital fee applies in the first year to the first two siblings only. It is non-refundable and non-transferable; families may request payment over two years.
Allow about €500–€1,000 for uniforms. The security deposit is €2,500 for Early Years and Grades 1–10, or €4,000 for boarders and Grades 11–12. Ask for its return conditions separately from the non-refundable capital fee.
The annual fee includes IB teaching, project weeks and device loans. The school also lists selected after-school and arts courses, medical care and counselling. Primary fees include after-school care until 17:00.
Our view
Choose AMADEUS when the combination of English-medium IB, arts provision and optional boarding answers the pupil’s needs. For a day pupil, the journey to Währing and the exact class fee are the practical tests. For a boarder, residential care deserves as much attention as the academic programme.
