International School of Düsseldorf (ISD) offers English-medium International Baccalaureate (IB) education from preschool, starting at three, through Grade 12. It is a useful option for families seeking continuity across school stages in Düsseldorf, provided the qualification route and full cost fit the child’s plans.
The co-educational day school is at Niederrheinstrasse 336, 40489 Düsseldorf. There is no boarding. A virtual open house is available for families unable to visit. School website.
IB continuity does not mean one leaving qualification
The elementary school follows the Primary Years Programme (PYP). Grades 6–10 use the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme runs in Grades 11–12.
The Senior School page also identifies individual IB certificates and the school’s own ISD High School Diploma. These are distinct from the full IB Diploma. For an older applicant, confirm the proposed route and how it meets the requirements of any intended university; do not assume that all three provide identical access.
ISD reports pupils from over 57 countries, 50 years as an IB World School, more than 50 Diploma course offerings and over 90 after-school activities. These are school-reported measures of breadth. Ask which subjects and activities are available to the particular pupil.
Applying and agreeing support
ISD accepts new pupils throughout the year. Start with a registration of interest and a tour, then complete the application forms: admission and membership, school agreement, language, academic and health information.
Year-round entry does not establish a vacancy in every grade. Discuss the intended start date, prior study and language or learning needs with admissions. The cited pages do not provide a current waiting-list position or a universal entrance-score threshold.
Learning support and English as an Additional Language (EAL) support are included in tuition. That does not specify the level of individual provision available; agree it before accepting if the child needs support.
Tuition and the first-year admission fee
ISD says tuition, paid by parents and/or employers, provides almost all its funding. The 2026/27 schedule includes a separate, non-refundable admission fee.

Tuition covers books and materials, an individual iPad for elementary pupils, school field trips, IB programme costs, regular IB examinations, learning and EAL support, and Grade 12 graduation. ISD reserves the right to change inclusions annually.
Additional costs: some published rates are older
After-school activities, arts-festival trips, home-language tutoring and private music lessons may cost extra.
The same page’s Cub Club and lunch figures are still labelled 2024/25, not 2026/27. Cub Club care runs until 18:00, with that older rate listed as €15 per day. Older lunch rates are €4.17 for Reception–Grade 2, €5.56 for Grades 3–5 and €5.95 for Grades 6–12. Confirm current prices before using them in the budget.
No specific scholarship award amount is established here. If assistance is necessary, ask about availability and conditions before treating it as part of the funding plan.
