Akademeia High School is a selective, English-medium day and boarding school in Wilanów, Warsaw, at Św. Urszuli Ledóchowskiej 2. It starts in Year 9 and leads to A Levels in Years 12–13. It is a secondary-school choice, not a nursery-to-graduation school.

The distinction is useful for families comparing it with The British School Warsaw or the American School of Warsaw. Begin with the child’s age and intended qualification, then compare the admissions process, subject options and commute. The schools do not offer interchangeable programmes.

Curriculum and fit

The usual entry points are Years 9, 10, 11 and 12. Year 9 is the Foundation Year. Year 10 begins the school’s route through international GCSE examinations. Year 11 also has a Pre-A programme designed to prepare pupils for A Levels. A family joining at this stage should ask which route the child would take and which qualifications they would actually complete.

Sixth Form means Years 12 and 13. Students normally choose three or four A Levels, with no compulsory A-Level subjects. The school currently advertises 25 subjects across sciences, mathematics, humanities, arts and languages, including Polish. A published subject list does not guarantee that every combination will fit a timetable. Check the exact combination against the entry requirements of likely university courses.

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) is an independent research project alongside the A Levels. It is not a replacement for them. The school also describes academic mentoring, university advice, clubs, internships and community projects. Ask how much time the pupil will spend on these activities alongside the chosen subjects.

Year 13 entry is exceptional. The admissions policy says the pupil would normally need to have covered largely the same material as the school’s current Year 12 group. A transfer between examination boards or subject specifications therefore needs an individual review.

How admission works

The first enquiry form is not the application. After an enquiry, the school emails a separate application form. The next stage is assessment, with a timetable sent 48–72 hours beforehand. Normal assessment events run over two days. The school says families receive a decision and a teacher-written diagnostic report within 14 days.

The published 2027–28 assessment dates are:

  • 27–28 November 2026
  • 19–20 February 2027
  • 19–20 March 2027
  • 23–24 April 2027

The website also describes individual summer assessments for 2026–27. As that school year has now begun, contact admissions about any remaining place rather than treating the summer wording as a promise of current availability.

The published policy distinguishes the assessment by entry year:

  • Years 9–10: English and mathematics tests, a subject-teacher meeting, a group task and online reasoning tasks.
  • Year 11: English and mathematics tests, up to four subject meetings and online reasoning tasks.
  • Year 12: English testing, subject meetings, an admissions panel and online reasoning tasks. Mathematics is tested if it is an intended A-Level subject.

A current-school reference is normally required before assessment. Families should provide educational-psychology and learning-support reports in advance. The policy allows 25% extra time in English and mathematics when need is evidenced, but support arrangements must be agreed with the school.

Applicants not resident in Poland can be assessed online. For Years 9–10, an individual meeting normally replaces the group task. Online assessment does not remove the academic or support requirements.

The offer can be withdrawn if deadlines, documents or fees are not completed. Read the acceptance contract before paying, especially if relocation or boarding is still uncertain.

Tuition and additional charges

The current fee page publishes these amounts for students joining in September 2026. All figures are in Polish złoty (PLN).

2026–27 item First term Second term Third term Annual total
Tuition, Years 9–11 60,160 60,160 30,080 150,400
Tuition, Years 12–13 71,560 71,560 35,780 178,900
Optional day-pupil lunch 3,600 3,600 2,750 9,950
Boarding 21,445 21,445 10,775 53,665

Year 13 lunch in the third term is reduced to PLN 850 because of examinations. The calculated annual lunch total for that year is therefore PLN 8,050, not PLN 9,950.

The current assessment fee is PLN 3,000, non-refundable. The older admissions PDF still says PLN 2,500; the current fee page is the figure to use when budgeting. Registration is PLN 10,000, also non-refundable, and includes a three-day integration camp. Registration is waived for a new pupil whose sibling is already enrolled.

The page advertises tuition reductions of 5% for the first sibling and 10% for the second sibling of a current pupil. It also lists a 4% reduction for paying the full 2026–27 annual fee in advance. Ask whether reductions can be combined and which amounts they apply to.

Tuition includes books, curricular workshops and trips, clubs, sports, arts materials, wellbeing and learning-support services, university guidance and insurance. Optional services should still be confirmed in the individual contract.

The assessment fee is due ten days before the event. Registration is due within 14 days of signing. Ordinary tuition dates are 1 May, 1 December and 1 March; a new pupil’s first-term payment is due within 14 days of signing. Payments are normally in PLN. The school can arrange USD, GBP or EUR payments, but the payer covers international transfer charges.

Boarding is separate from admission

A school offer does not guarantee a boarding place. Families indicate interest on the application and confirm it after an offer; there is no additional academic assessment for boarding.

The published boarding fee covers a shared double room, round-the-clock on-site supervision, weekly cleaning, pastoral support and a seven-day meal plan. School lunches are already included. Do not add the day-pupil lunch charge to boarding.

For a new Year 12 boarder without discounts, tuition, boarding, assessment and registration total PLN 245,565, calculated from the published figures. This is a budgeting example, not a quotation for every family. Obtain the room offer, holiday arrangements, withdrawal terms and any other charges before making travel plans.

Scholarships

The published admissions policy names scholarship entry to Years 10 and 12. Academic, music and art awards are competitive. The current page advertises reductions from 5% to 100%, with the amount related to family income. Additional help with lunch or accommodation may be available.

The school cites a 4.5 average as one eligibility route and also recognises other academic or competition achievements. Its website’s grading-scale wording is inconsistent with the broader regulations; ask the committee how the child’s actual grades will be converted. A minimum is not a scholarship guarantee.

The 2027–28 competition opens 19 October 2026 and closes 18 January 2027. Finalists are announced on 22 February, assessments are 19–20 March, and final results are due 19 April. The application includes education history, reports, two writing tasks and supporting material for music or art.

Awards are conditional on continued performance and participation. The current page expects a 70% average across subjects as part of those continuing obligations. Read the award terms alongside the school contract.
