The International School of Prague sits in Nebušice, Prague 6, on Nebušická 700, in the Divoká Šárka nature reserve. The campus page says the village is about 20 minutes from the heart of the city. It is a day school. Boarding is not advertised. If your posting has not found a flat, this campus will not absorb the child.
ISP offers all four IB programmes: Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma, and Career-related. Graduates earn an ISP Diploma that the upper-school page ties to NEASC International Division accreditation — a US-style high-school diploma. Most students, the admissions welcome page says, also pursue the IB Diploma. Modern languages named for the upper school are French, German and Spanish. There is access to Global Online Academy courses.
The useful questions are ordinary. Can this child work in English? Will they actually meet Czech children, or only see Prague from a bus? Can you pay in koruna, including the Capital Assessment Fee every year from ECF 5? And if you might stay, do you understand that a US diploma plus an IB Diploma is not the same thing as a Czech maturita?
ISP’s mission line is “Inspire, Engage and Empower” learners to be curious, competent, compassionate changemakers. The admissions policy says it tries to accept students as space and resources allow, and that it does not discriminate on ability, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation or religion. That is the open-enrolment sentence. The practical sentence is: a complete file, a paid application fee, and a seat.
It is a school for internationally mobile families and for Czech families who want an English IB campus and can pay koruna fees. Scholarships exist for Czech citizens and other residents of the Czech Republic, currently in Middle and Upper School (Grades 6–12). They are merit and need. You apply through the ordinary process first. The scholarship page named a deadline of 27 February for that cycle. Funding comes from gifts. Ask whether this year is open before you count on it.
EAL runs through Grade 10. An English test may be required. A child who cannot work in academic English in the Diploma years is a counselling conversation, not a hope you decide from this page.
Nebušice is a village on the northwest edge, with forest on one side and the city on the other. The campus page leads with a Learning Innovation Hub and purpose-built science labs. A “Campus Roadmap” is in progress with international and local architects: a new Design & Innovation Centre, a new Elementary cafeteria, a sensory and multipurpose space, and a renovation of the central kitchen and cafeteria. Ask what is actually built when you visit, and what is still a drawing.

Ask to see an ordinary ECF classroom and the dining room, not only the Hub. Ask where Grade 6 plays when Šárka is frozen. The forest is a gift in September. January is a different walk.

Early Childhood Foundations. ECF 3 and 4 can be half-day or full-day — the fee table prices both. ECF 5 is the year that joins the main tuition-plus-capital structure. Ages start at 3.
Elementary, Grades 1–5. IB Primary Years Programme, English-medium, with EAL available.
Middle School, Grades 6–8, and Upper School Grades 9–10. IB Middle Years Programme. The upper-school page describes inquiry-led work in language arts, social studies, mathematics, sciences, music, drama, PE, visual arts, modern languages and design.
Grades 11–12. Three leaving routes on the same campus: the IB Diploma, the IB Career-related Programme, and the ISP Diploma with a wider elective list. Students can combine. College and career counselling covers university applications and standardised tests.
Service, arts and sport exist; the public pages do not give us a clean “every child must” sentence the way some IB schools do. Ask what Service as Action and CAS look like in this year group.
Instruction is in English. EAL is available from Elementary through Grade 10. The welcome page says the school may require an English test after reviewing the file.
Host-country Czech is the language of the village and the tram. Confirm on the tour how Czech is taught — hours, sets, whether a newcomer in Grade 4 is still a beginner in June. We are not inventing a Czech-for-all rule the extractable pages did not print.
French, German and Spanish are the modern-language offer named for the upper school. Ask when each starts, and whether a mother-tongue option exists for a language that is not on that list.
Six steps on the official list: contact admissions; check requirements; pay the application fee; upload documents; review; sign the enrolment contract.
The welcome page is the useful clock. Within three weeks of the application fee being paid and the file being complete, parents get a response: approved, rejected, or further review. Approval is not a seat. For August entry, class sizes are assessed at the end of April. Then as many approved files as will fit are admitted. The rest, if parents want, go into a waiting pool.
Bring a recent Individual Educational Plan and a psycho-educational assessment if learning support is in the picture. The Learning Support team decides whether ISP’s programme is appropriate. The school can refer out for diagnostic testing, speech therapy and psychological support. That is not a promise to staff every need on campus.
Write admissions@isp.cz. Visit the campus if you can. The forest edge is easier to judge in person than on a map.
Fees are quoted, invoiced and payable in CZK. Placement is not guaranteed until invoices are paid. The Capital Assessment Fee (CAF) services construction loans and major maintenance. It is billed every year with tuition from ECF 5 through Grade 12.

ECF 3 and 4 do not pay the Newcomers’ Fee on entry. They pay it later, when they move into ECF 5. Students who leave and return within the next two academic years do not pay Newcomers’ again. Application, Newcomers’, CAF and the re-enrolment deposit are non-refundable once paid.

A first-year Grade 6 is not “about 752,000.” It is application + Newcomers’ + tuition + CAF: 9,000 + 52,000 + 674,000 + 78,000 = 813,000 CZK before buses, lunches or a ski week. We are not adding a bus figure the fees page does not print.
Bank details on the same page: UniCredit, CZK account, IBAN starting CZ75 2700. Cash is accepted only for the application fee. CZK cheques only if drawn on UniCredit. Confirm the live fees page before you budget — the school’s own table is the source, and tables move.
Proration for a mid-year join is available from admissions; the 2026/27 page still pointed families to the office for the 2025–26 proration note. Ask for the current mid-year arithmetic.
The IB Diploma is the portable one. Six subjects, the core, the points.
The IB Career-related Programme is the fourth IB programme, for students who want a more applied Grade 11–12. Ask how many students are on it this year. A small CP cohort is a different Tuesday from a large Diploma year.
The ISP Diploma is the NEASC-backed school diploma all graduates receive, with electives if a student is not on the full DP or CP. The upper-school page calls it globally recognised through that accreditation. On its own, some national European doors still want the IB. That is a counsellor conversation.
Czech public-university recognition of the IB is a Ministry and faculty question. We are not printing a maturita-equivalence rule ISP’s extractable pages did not print. If you might apply to a Czech university, ask the college office to walk it with this child’s subjects.
ISP graduates, the welcome page says, go to universities in many countries. College counsellors work on course choice and applications. That is the service. It is not a placement promise.
Learning Support, EAL and counselling are the three named strands. Support can be in class or in a small group. Bring current reports. If ISP cannot meet the need, you want that said before you sign.
Scholarships can include athletic and cultural trips and college-test costs (PSAT, SAT, prep, IB), the scholarship page says, depending on the family’s situation. That is for scholarship holders, not a general perk.
Ask how many seats are left in your grade for August, and when April’s capacity review actually happens this cycle. Ask whether an English test would apply. Ask how Czech is taught, and whether a child can buy bread in Czech by Easter. Ask how many Grade 11s are on the full Diploma versus the CP versus the ISP Diploma only. Ask what the Campus Roadmap has already built. Ask what happens if the posting ends in March. Ask whether the Newcomers’ Fee would apply if you left and came back in two years.
If you live in Vinohrady, sit the commute once at 07:20. Nebušice is a village. The 20-minute claim is a campus sentence, not your driveway.
We are not saying ISP is the best school in Prague. We are not guessing enrolment. The welcome page says ISP is accredited by NEASC and active with ECIS, CIS, CEESA, ELMLE, the IBO and AISH. “Active with CIS” is not the same sentence as “CIS accredited.” Confirm the live accreditation page.
Read the fees page and write to admissions before you give notice on a flat in another country. This is a map. The school still has to be the right Tuesday.
