Prague internationals, six Tuesdays in one city

Prague is small enough that parents try to tour everything in one week, and large enough that those tours are not the same childhood.

The portraits we have already walked are six official doors. Use them for koruna figures and dates. This note is how the city actually sits: which hill, which paper, which yard. We will not invent a waitlist. The Czech Republic country page is the wider walking map, including public gymnázium doors we have not portraited.

Six official houses, more than one climate

International School of Prague is the forest-edge campus in Nebušice, Prague 6. English in the classroom. All four IB programmes, plus an ISP / US high-school diploma (NEASC). It is not the Old Town. Time the gate from the flat you will actually rent. Fees are in Czech koruna on the school’s own fees page.

Prague British International School is one school on three working sites — Kamýk, Libuš, Vlastina — plus a fourth campus the school says will open in 2027. British early years and national curriculum, a Czech bilingual primary the school names (ČBZŠ), Cambridge IGCSE, IB Diploma, and an MYP candidate line. Ask which site your year group sits on. A brochure that says “Prague” is not an address.

Riverside International School is the independent British international across four Prague 6 sites — Bubeneč, Sedlec, Hradčany. It is not ISP and not Nord Anglia’s PBIS. IGCSE, IB Diploma, a Riverside high-school diploma (NEASC), and Czech for Czechs (RVP ZV). The school publishes its own Tuition Schedule. BSO inspected it; the portrait names the March 2026 visit.

The English College in Prague is Anglické gymnázium in Prague 9, Vysočany. It starts later — about 12 — and is a Czech six-year gymnázium that also sits the IB and the Czech maturita. Selective entrance. A different Tuesday from a through-train international that begins at three. If you might stay, this is often the house that makes the national paper feel possible.

Park Lane International School sits on several inner-city hills, not in Nebušice. The contact page prints three offices: Nessie preschool in Smíchov, primary in Střešovice, secondary in Malá Strana. The IB page also names Klárov and Úvoz. British years, Cambridge IGCSE, then the full IB Diploma. The 2026/27 campus PDFs are in koruna, and lunch and exam fees sit outside tuition. Ask which door this year group uses.

Deutsche Schule Prag is the German official Auslandsschule in Jinonice, Prague 5. Kindergarten from 2.5 through the Deutsches internationales Abitur, with a Czech gymnasium track the 2026/27 preisliste prices separately. German in the classroom. This is not an English international with a German club. Time that road. It is not Malá Strana.

None of these is a ranking. They are different Mondays.

What to decide before the first tour

Write four lines. How to choose is the longer fridge list. In Prague they look like this:

1. Stay or leave. If you will still be here at eighteen, the maturita and a Czech gymnázium are not optional colour. If you will leave in three years, a portable IB or a US-shaped diploma may be the kindness.
2. Which hill. Prague 6 is not Prague 9 and not Prague 5. Nebušice is not Hradčany. Kamýk is not Vlastina. Malá Strana is not Jinonice. Measure the dark January morning, door to gate.
3. Czech in the yard. English-medium does not mean the park is English. Ask what Czech is — a subject, a bilingual stream, a hope. The language of the yard is that test.
4. This year’s PDF. Koruna tables live on official pages. If a later PDF disagrees, trust the PDF. We will not reprint a figure here so it can go stale on you.

Official doors that are not internationals

A week of tours that only sees glass campuses is a missed week. Families who will stay often walk a public gymnázium in the same season as ISP, then let the entrance exam — not the castle — decide. A Czech soukromá škola or a church house is not a failed international. It is a national morning.

The Czech country page names that pairing. Brno has a smaller version of the same sky. Do not treat the rest of the country as a waiting room for Nebušice.

What to ask on the stairs

Ask which campus, which year group, which leaving certificate this child would actually sit. Ask how a January arrival is placed. Ask where a shy child eats. Ask who translates the joke in the first month.

Ask whether Czech citizens have extra language hours, and whether a non-Czech child is still expected to live in the city. Ask what happens at sixteen if the family stays.

Then sit on the tram at the hour you would travel. The school that still feels possible after that ride is the one to read twice.
