Riverside International School is an independent British international day school in Prague 6. The Czech about page calls it a mezinárodní britská škola, founded in 1994. The fees PDF invoices as Riverside o.p.s. — a Czech public-benefit company. It is not Nord Anglia’s PBIS and not ISP in Nebušice.
It is co-ed. English pages describe children commuting from family homes. The Ranch is overnight for school in nature, not a boarding house. The Czech about page still says they offer ubytování for high-school students. There is no boarding fee on the 2026/27 schedule. Ask what that Czech line currently means. If the posting has not found a flat, do not assume the school will absorb the child.

The useful questions are local. Which of the four Prague 6 buildings does this year group use? Can the child work in English, or will you also pay the published EAL surcharge? Czech national needing Čeština pro Čechy, or an international child who only needs host-country Czech? And do you understand that Junior and Senior High are still on two Hradčanská sites until the school says the Evropská campus opens in September 2028?
Nursery through Year 13, ages 3–18. A place depends on a seat and on the school deciding it can meet the child’s needs. Under-threes are pointed to Global Concepts Pre School.
It is for families who want a British path — EYFS, the English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE, then the IB Diploma — plus a NEASC High School Diploma with a GPA, inside a school that still talks about a Christian ethos and a family atmosphere. The Czech page says it is open to children of all nationalities and religions. The employment page wants committed Christian staff and says the ethos is “attractive to families of all faiths and of none.” Ask what that looks like in an ordinary assembly.
Homepage figures: 30 years, 60+ nationalities, 700+ students, 70% international. The new-campus page says approximately 730. The Czech about page says over 740. Those counts do not all match. Ask for the roll in this child’s year.
Teachers, the FAQ says, come from the UK, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Matthew Dagan is Primary Principal. Sarita Myers is High School Principal. Hannah Gaffney is Early Years Lead. Stephen Fuller is Head of Junior High.
There is a need-based Reduced Tuition Scholarship on the 2026/27 fees PDF — limited, applied for annually through finance@riversideschool.cz. Sibling discount does not stack on top. This is not PBIS’s Prague 12 merit seat. Ask whether this cycle still has money.
International School of Prague sits in Nebušice and runs all four IB programmes. Riverside does not. Riverside’s middle years are English National Curriculum, Key Stage 3. The IB arrives in Years 12–13. There is also a US-style High School Diploma.
Prague British International School is Nord Anglia, on Kamýk, Libuš and Vlastina, with a Czech bilingual primary (ČBZŠ) and an MYP candidate line. Riverside is an o.p.s. British international with a Christian-ethos mission sentence, four Prague 6 sites, and a Czech for Czechs add-on rather than a separate bilingual primary company.
If a relocation pack lists “the British school” as if there were only one, ask which legal name is on the invoice.

Evropská 176/16 — announced unified Junior and Senior High, five renovated buildings, September 2028. The page’s walk times: 5 minutes from Nádraží Veleslavín metro and Nad Džbánem tram; 8 minutes from Veleslavín train. Early Years and Primary stay put. Until 2028, the two Hradčanská sites are the working high school.
Ask to see the ordinary classroom this child will use. A four-year-old in Bubeneč and a sixteen-year-old on the third floor at Hradčanská do not share a cloakroom.
Early Years, ages 3–5 — EYFS. Play, Continuous Provision, Eco-Schools. Sample day: soft start 8:00–9:00, home 15:00, Skills for Life 15:00–15:45, Extended Day 15:00–16:45 (extra; no price printed). The FAQ also names 17:00. Half-day Nursery is priced; other part-day options exist on request.
Primary, ages 5–11 — English and Welsh national objectives, inquiry in science and topic, synthetic phonics, weekly computing, MakerSpace, specialists. 2026 booklet: drop-off from 8:15, start 8:25, end 15:25, clubs 15:30–16:20. Houses: Havel, Hus, Karel, Komenský. Kindness UK named the primary Kindness School of the Year 2026.
Junior High, ages 11–14 — Key Stage 3. English, maths, science; humanities; computing and DT; arts; Czech, Spanish, French, German, Latin, EAL; PE and Outdoor Adventure. Eight 40-minute periods. Tutor 8:15. Last lesson 15:15. Clubs 15:30–16:30. Czech for Czechs: two 7:30–8:10 mornings, official tests four times a year.
Senior High, ages 14–18. Years 10–11: Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE — English Language and Literature, Co-ordinated Science, Mathematics, PE, plus five electives. Exams May/June of Year 11. Years 12–13: IB Diploma, exams May of Year 13. Everyone who earns 23 credits also gets the NEASC High School Diploma, “irrespective of their educational destination.” Czech for Czechs becomes an elective plus Czech History one morning a week, ending in Year 10.
Instruction is in English. The FAQ says many arrive with no English at all. EAL runs at all grades and is not inside tuition. Ask how many hours a January Year 7 actually gets, and whether Year 10 is still sensible if academic English is thin.
French, German, Spanish, Latin and Czech from Primary. On the IB, a native language not on the timetable can be self-taught with an external teacher; Riverside says it will help organise that.
Czech nationals are jointly registered with a local Czech school. Riverside is on the Ministry list of foreign schools permitted to fulfil compulsory attendance (decision 35 229/99-22). The Czech-for-Czechs handbook names ZŠ Járy Cimrmana, Lysolaje, so tests can be sat at Riverside. That is not PBIS’s ČBZŠ bilingual primary. There is a required Czech level; the school can decline the programme.
The FAQ: maximum class and tutor group 18; some High School specialist subjects 1:8. The homepage says “around 18.” Ask for the actual Year 3 and Year 10 on the day you visit.

A place depends on spaces and on the school knowing it can meet the need. There is no published waitlist rule. Call and ask whether this year group has a seat.
GL Progress Tests, Years 1–9. CAT4 for newcomers and in Years 3, 6, 9 and 12. PASS survey, Years 2–13. Conferences three times a year. Years 6–13 get a laptop; Years 7–13 may take it home. Uniform is blue, white, red and black; High School uses a colour code. We did not find a published uniform price.

The discounted annual figure applies if you pay before 30 June. Or pay termly. Invoices: June, December, March. Mid-year joiners are charged by remaining weeks; a partial week counts as a full week.

Late after the second full week of term: 1.0% a month, 12.0% a year. Unpaid by midterm: suspension and records withheld. Mid-term departure: the full termly fee. Annual payers can get remaining full terms back if they gave one full term’s notice (the PDF’s example: notice by the last day of Term 2 if the child will not return in September). Write to finance@riversideschool.cz. The school may, in some cases, require an annual non-refundable payment to confirm the year.

A first-year Year 7, one child, paid annually, is not “about 630,000.” It is application + deposit + discounted tuition — 10,000 + 12,000 + 630,000 = 652,000 CZK — before EAL, the paid bus, lunches, a Ranch week, or Extended Day. Pay termly and the three Year 7 invoices add to 663,000 before the same extras.
We did not find 2026/27 prices for lunch, bus, uniform, exams or Extended Day. The extras below are last year’s published tables.
The download-forms list still links a 2025–2026 bus-pass PDF. Ask transport@riversideschool.cz (the PDF names Zsanett Kereková) what 2026/27 will be.
Free shuttle between Hradčanská, Bubeneč and Sedlec. Tell the office by 14:00 if the child is not a regular. Junior and Senior High may step on or off the free shuttle; Primary and Early Years may not.

Senior High is not on that table. Replacement chip 50 CZK. Cancel by 12:00 the working day before or you still pay. Ask what this year’s lunch costs, especially in Senior High.
IGCSE at 16. The IGCSE page prints four figures without dating the cohort: 30% with five or more A*–A; 98% with five or more A*–C; 93% with five or more A*–C including English and Maths; 96% of grades A*–C.
IB Diploma at 18. The Senior High page prints, again without a year on that block: average 35 (world 30.6); 36 for students at Riverside 7+ years; subject 5.6 (world 4.9); pass 96% (world 81.2%). The FAQ still says “90% or above” against a worldwide 78%. Those sentences do not match. Ask which sitting they want you to read.
NEASC High School Diploma — 23 credits and a GPA. The FAQ’s preferred university countries are the UK and US. Counsellors help with UCAS, the Common Application, PSAT, SAT and ACT.
Czech maturita is not the leaving route. Czech nationals sit Ministry tests through Czech for Czechs, ending in Year 10. The Czech about page calls the IB mezinárodní maturita. That is the school’s sentence, not a Ministry equivalence we verified. If a later Czech faculty will want a maturita-shaped document, ask the IB office with this child’s subjects.
Learning support exists — tutors, learning support, nurses, mental-health counsellors. The school does not describe itself as a specialist SEN school. Bring current reports.
British Schools Overseas, March 2026: Outstanding in every category the school lists, third time running. DfE-approved inspectorate, Ofsted quality-assured. Other badges the accreditation page names: NEASC, CIS, COBIS, AoBSO, ISC, IB, Adventuremark, afPE Quality Mark with Distinction, Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. UK DfES number on the Czech page: 70/36271.
Ask which building this child sits in for Years 6, 9 and 10, and whether Evropská will have opened before Year 12. Ask how many EAL hours are timetabled, and whether the 63,000 surcharge applies. Ask Czech-for-Czechs versus ordinary Czech. Ask what Extended Day, uniform, and exam entries cost — the tuition PDF does not print them. Ask whether a Reduced Tuition Scholarship is open this year. Ask what the Czech ubytování sentence means. Ask what happens if the posting ends in March: one full term’s notice, and no mid-term refund.
