This is a Type 1 European School at 6, rue Gaston Thorn. The EURSC title still says Mamer. The 2026–27 rules print Bertrange. It is not Kirchberg and not a fee-paying IB campus. Category I is fee-exempt. The 2026–27 window is already closed. New DE, EN or FR residents are, in principle, sent here.

European School Luxembourg II is a Type 1 European School, not a private IB campus and not European School Luxembourg I. Official site eel2.eu. The EURSC location page titles the house Mamer. It is a day school. There is no boarding house. If the posting has not found a flat, Bertrange will not absorb the child.
Director on the EURSC location page we opened: Maurice van Daal (replaced by Aibhistin Ó Coimín). That is the page’s own sentence. Nursery and primary deputy: Petra Reinhardt. The useful questions are the other Luxembourg-European questions. Are you Category I, II or III? Which language section is this child’s dominant language — and is that section only in Bertrange, only on Kirchberg, or in both houses? And do you understand that a DE, EN or FR file from a new resident is, in principle, sent here?
The European Schools were set up for children of people who work for a European institution. Everyone else applies into remaining places. Luxembourg has two traditional houses. They share one 2026–27 admission text.
Category I — a parent is a member of staff of a European institution or a related organisation, employed directly and continuously for a minimum of one year, as the joint rules print it. Fee-exempt. Confirm the letter.
Category II — a signed agreement. The 2026/27 Board table prints a new-contract Luxembourg line of €16,306.32. The current-contract cell is still tba. Ask which contract this employer actually has.
Category III — other families, if places remain. The Directors look at Category I and II first. Priority goes to undersubscribed sections. No Category III pupil may be admitted into a class which already has 27 or more pupils. Admission is case by case.
It will not suit a family who only want the International School of Luxembourg because Kirchberg looked shorter on a June map, or St George’s Luxembourg because the classroom is English. Walk those if that is the climate. They share a country and almost no Monday.
Luxembourg I is the Kirchberg Type 1 house at 23, Boulevard Konrad Adenauer. Same family of European Baccalaureate. Different exclusive sections. A file posted to one school is no guarantee of that address.
The International School of Luxembourg is a fee-paying international. Rue Gaston Thorn is a European School. Category I is not a tour of ISL.
We will not call this “the Mamer school” as if the street did not exist. EURSC says Mamer. The rules say Bertrange. Time the plateau you would actually drive.
Rue Gaston Thorn, L-8268 Bertrange — west of the city, not Boulevard Konrad Adenauer. Time that 7:45 from the commune you can actually live in. Luxembourg is small on a map and long in a school-run jam.

The school’s own inscription page: send the completed file first by e-mail, if possible as a PDF named NOM_PRENOM_SECTION LINGUISTIQUE_CLASSE, to the cycle secretariat, and by post to the school. Incomplete files are returned by e-mail. A file is only considered when every required paper is attached.
It is not a through-train you pick by preference if the child’s section lives only on Kirchberg.
The 2026–27 rules are blunt about who sits where.
Only Luxembourg II: CS, DA, EL, HR, HU, IT, RO, SK, SL — language sections and/or mother tongues, as that page prints them.
Only Luxembourg I: BG, ES, ET, FI, LT, LV, NL, PL, PT, SV.
Both houses: DE, EN, FR — the vehicular sections. Applications for those three may be sent to either school. Submission is no guarantee of that address. The two directorates distribute the files together.
SWALS — students without a language section — go to the school where their mother tongue is taught.
New residents in DE, EN or FR: in principle Luxembourg II, unless rule 1 (single section / SWALS) says otherwise. “New resident,” the rules say: the legal representatives do not have their principal residence in the Grand Duchy or the immediate vicinity when the file is submitted.
Old residents in those three sections are split by the N–S line on the map appended to the rules. The useful-documents page still hosts that geographical map. Open it. Do not invent which side of the line your commune sits on.
ONL — Irish, Maltese, Finnish/Swedish, Catalan — is offered in both schools, subject to teacher availability. Only Category I and II are entitled to ONL. Category III may join an existing course; a course will not be organised only for them.
Place the child in the language they actually live in. A wish is not a section.

The joint rules: files handled from 13 April. Replies by Friday 12 June 2026. Parents were asked not to call the two secretariats before that date.
An incomplete file at the deadline is not treated as on time. Files completed later: 6 to 8 working weeks, and no answer before 12 June 2026.

Category I pays no Board minerval.
The houses share the Board table. The EURSC page we opened prints, for pupils newly enrolled as Category III from 2013/2014 onwards:

The shared 2026/2027 enrolment form prints a different Category III block, labelled “Other category III parents”: nursery €4,300.47, primary €5,913.21, secondary €8,063.46. A NATO/NSPA civilian-staff line on the same form is twice those figures. We will not flatten the Board table and the form into one invoice. Open both. Ask the school which euro arrives.
Second child 20% off. Third and later 40%. The form: that reduction does not include the other school costs.
25% is the deposit, and it is not reimbursable. The papers do not all print the same day:
The 75% balance in that memorandum: no later than 30 days after the October invoice. A written request by 31 August can split that 75% into 30 November 2026, 31 December 2026, 31 January 2027, 28 February 2027.
The social-fund page on eel2.eu is for expensive school trips, financed by a small deduction from vending-machine turnover. The request form we opened is still labelled 2025–2026. We will not reprint it as 2026–27 help.
Category I does not pay the minerval. Ask whether other school costs still arrive. We will not guess.
The European Baccalaureate. That is not the IB at ISL, not A Levels at St George’s, and not the French Bac at Vauban. A child can, in the European Schools sentence, return to a national system at a later stage. That is not a promise we will translate into a Luxembourgish lycée place.
Ask whether this is Category I, II or III — those are three invoices. Ask which section language this child actually lives in, and whether that section exists only in Bertrange. Ask, if the section is DE, EN or FR, whether the family is a new resident under the 2026–27 definition — because that sentence, in principle, points here. Ask which Category III euro the school will actually invoice. Ask which 25% date applies to this file. Ask how the N–S map treats your commune. Ask what happens if the posting ends in November.
We are not ranking Bertrange against Kirchberg. We are not inventing a Category III waitlist.
