Phorms Campus Hamburg is a co-educational bilingual day school at Wendenstr. 35–43, 20097 Hamburg, in the centre — Hammerbrook on the primary page, not Groß Flottbek. Official site hamburg.phorms.de. It is not International School of Hamburg on Hemmingstedter Weg. Same city. Almost no Monday. ISH is an English-medium IB house. Phorms is a German-English private aiming at the Abitur.
It is a day school. There is no boarding house.
The home page says the campus has been open since 2011, with families from 45 nations, and sits in the nationwide Phorms network. The management block names Benjamin Haack as Managing Director, Damir Dzafic as Head of Primary, Andrea Zahrte as Deputy Head of Secondary, and Evelyn Siegert as Head of Day Care. Confirm the live secondary head on the visit.
The useful questions are: Do you want a bilingual Abitur, not an IB Diploma? Can you live with Wendenstrasse in January? And have you added the Friends’ Association line — because the 2026–27 secondary page prints it as a percentage of family income, not as a nice extra.
Families who want German and English in the same week, from daycare through a German leaving certificate, in the city centre rather than in Groß Flottbek.
Year 1, the school says, does not require English first. The child should be fluent in at least one of the two languages of instruction. Secondary entry asks for a Gymnasium recommendation, good-to-very-good work in German, maths and science, and a place. Siblings and Phorms-network transfers are named. Mid-year entry is possible if a chair exists.
It will not suit a family hunting an English-only IB week, or a state Gymnasium that charges nothing for the lesson. Walk ISH, or a neighbourhood school, if that is the climate.
The home page prints 1.74 as “Hamburg’s highest Abitur average in 2026.” That is the school’s marketing sentence. We are not ranking Phorms against a state Gymnasium or against ISH.
Wendenstrasse, central Hamburg. The primary page says Hammerbrook. Time that street at 7:40 in January, then Hemmingstedter Weg the same week. The S-Bahn is the first honest number.
Daycare, the school says, holds up to 95 children in crèche and elementary groups, plus 60 in preschool. Primary currently names 330 children aged 5 to 10. We will not invent a hectare count.
Meals are cooked on site by Bio für Kids. All Phorms students eat the school lunch. No pork. One vegetarian dish each day. Staff eat with the children. That is the school’s table, not a brochure we decorated.
A path the home page calls Kindergarten to Abitur. Daycare is more precise:
The English home page also says “Bilingualism until A-Levels.” The German leaving certificate the same site names is the Abitur. Cambridge English exams at C1/C2, or at least B2, by Year 11, sit in the school-development copy. Ask which paper this child will hold. Do not assume IB.
Immersion is the method the school names: German and English equally present. Additional primary educators, small classes, and “no cancelled lessons” are the school’s own promises. Ask what that looked like last November.
Online registration, then trial days (or an alternative process if the family is still abroad), then an offer. Primary Year 1 wants a development report, the Hamburg introduction-procedure papers including a language test, the school-entrance examination, and income proof from both guardians for the calendar year before last. Years 2–4 want reports from Year 1. Educational documents must be complete before a PlayDate or trial day is offered; income proof can follow.

We will not invent a closing date the pages do not print.
Both primary and secondary admissions pages print the same monthly school-fee spine. We will not invent a different yearly total. Twelve monthly instalments, collected in advance by direct debit on the first working day of the month.

Friends’ Association, 2026–27: the secondary page asks every family to join. The monthly membership is 0.325% of the custodial parents’ total gross income from the year before last. That is not a footnote. Ask what it comes to for your household before you budget €250.
The same page says up to two-thirds of parental contributions and Friends’ fees may be tax-deductible as childcare. That is the school’s sentence. Ask your own advisor.
Uniforms, trips, and optional afternoon courses are extra.
We are not ranking Phorms against ISH or a state Gymnasium. We are not treating 1.74 as a league table we built. We are not calling this an IB school. We are not inventing a secondary head the page does not name as “Head.”
Ask whether this child is entering Kita, Year 1, or Gymnasium, and which documents that door actually wants. Ask how bilingual the yard is after lunch in Year 8, not only in preschool. Ask for the Friends’ Association number in euros for your income band. Ask what “no cancelled lessons” meant last winter.
Time Wendenstrasse on a wet Tuesday. Then walk Groß Flottbek, then a neighbourhood Stadtteilschule or Gymnasium, in the same week.
