Canisius-Kolleg is a co-educational Jesuit day school at Tiergartenstraße 30–31, 10785 Berlin. Official site canisius.de. Rektorat +49 30 26481100. School matters +49 30 26481105. Write the Rektor’s office at info@canisius.de for Schulgeld — the school says not the Schulleitung.
It is not the John F. Kennedy School on Teltower Damm, and not BBIS in Kleinmachnow. Canisius is a church door in the same city as the internationals. German in the corridor. Abitur on the Gymnasium path. Time the Tiergarten, not the Brandenburg border.
The useful questions are: Are you buying the Gymnasium from Grade 5, or the ISS Pedro Arrupe from Grade 9? Can you live with a Jesuit house that is handyfrei? And have you opened the Schulgeldordnung, because the public page prints a principle and a sliding scale, not a single euro we will invent?
Who it is for
Families who want a German Catholic week in the centre, with a Jesuit Träger, and who can talk about money without pretending the school is free.
Two paths the school names: schulisches Gymnasium, classes 5–12, and Integrierte Sekundarschule Pedro Arrupe, classes 9–13. Enrolment for Gymnasium Grade 5 (Sexta) 2027/28 is already a named door on the home page. We will not invent how many chairs that year holds.
The home page says the house is handyfrei, and that they will watch that rule more closely in the new school year.
It will not suit a family hunting an English IB in Kleinmachnow, a public German-American campus that charges no tuition, or a municipal Gymnasium with no church story. Walk those if that is the climate.
The campus you can actually picture
Tiergartenstrasse, a chapel, a Tuesday that starts with a Kollegsgottesdienst when the calendar says so. The Jesuits, the school says, still support the house personally and financially. It receives no church-tax income. The Land Berlin subsidises only part of the staff costs; buildings stay with the Träger.
It is a first-district-adjacent Tuesday, not Zehlendorf.
How a child actually gets in
Open the live Anmeldung pages. Gymnasium from Grade 5 has its own form and year. ISS Pedro Arrupe is a later door. We will not invent a Probeunterricht score or a waitlist.
Money, as the Schulgeld pages print it
The first sentence is the one the school wants you to hear: the visit will not fail on Schulgeld — neither at the Gymnasium nor at ISS Pedro Arrupe. Reduction or waiver is possible, unbureaucratic, on the family’s self-assessment. The Kolleg says it does not want to look into the household’s papers. Write the Rektor, on paper or by mail, not the Schulleitung.
The other side of that sentence: the Kolleg must charge Schulgeld. The Ordnung uses a moderate base plus a sliding scale against household income. Trust, the page says, runs both ways. A new Ordnung applies from 1 August 2026. Open that document. We will not invent the monthly euro the HTML page does not quote.
Bauschulgeld is a voluntary building contribution, not the regular fee. The regular monthly Schulgeld, the school says, remains a contribution to staff costs only. The suggested voluntary gifts: €130 first child, €110 second, €90 third, €70 fourth. That is a donation sentence, not a tuition line.
What we are not claiming
We are not ranking Canisius against JFKS or BBIS. We are not inventing the 2026 monthly Schulgeld. We are not treating a Jesuit house as an international campus. We are not calling the voluntary Bauschulgeld compulsory.
Stairs questions
Ask whether you are buying Grade 5 Gymnasium or ISS Pedro Arrupe. Ask the Rektor how the sliding scale reads for this household after 1 August 2026. Time Tiergartenstrasse at 7:30 if a Gottesdienst is the honest tour.
The Berlin hub is the short map. The Germany country page is the wider one.
