Vauban is a co-educational French day school covering Petite Section to Terminale. Its campus is at 1–3 rue Albert Einstein in Gasperich, in the south of Luxembourg City. The school says it moved to the Gasperich campus in 2018.
This corrects an important confusion in the previous profile: Vauban is not on Kirchberg. European School Luxembourg I is the school on Kirchberg. International School of Luxembourg is another separate option.
Vauban is part of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) network. The AEFE record lists all 15 year levels as officially approved within the French system.
Who should consider it
Vauban is a strong option for a family seeking continuity with the French national curriculum and a route to the French baccalauréat. It may also suit a family interested in one of its international or European sections.
The main tradeoff is language. This is a French school, not an English-medium international school. Ask how the school would assess and support your child’s French at the requested year level. A family choosing primarily for English-medium teaching should compare ISL or another relevant international school.
It is a day school. Test the journey to Gasperich at school times and check the transport and care arrangements your family would need.
Admissions for 2026–27
The school accepts applications from all nationalities. Its current admissions page says children legally domiciled in Luxembourg at the start of the school year receive priority. Other situations may be considered if places remain.
For Petite Section, a child had to be three by 1 September 2026. From Grande Section to Terminale, final admission depends on entrance tests. This applies to applicants from French-system schools as well as other systems.
Primary applicants are assessed in French and mathematics and meet school leadership. Secondary applicants take French and mathematics tests lasting 90 minutes each. Entry to the British or German international section, the Baccalauréat français international (BFI), or a European section involves an additional test.
The published February-to-May admissions committees and April-to-June test dates for September 2026 have passed. Late applications submitted after 10 July are considered before the start of the year if places remain. For an in-year application, contact the relevant admissions office and ask which year levels currently have space.
A separate online application is required for each child. The application includes current school records, relevant support documents, identification, and a parent statement. The school charged a €200 non-refundable application fee for this cycle.
If a place is offered, the school requires a €600 advance within eight days. The admissions page says this is non-refundable if the family withdraws. Ask the finance office to confirm how it is credited on the first invoice; do not add it to the annual cost without checking.
The waiting list has no order of priority. A file not offered a place at one committee is carried to the next committee automatically.
Annual fees from September 2026
The school has now published the fee table approved at its general meeting on 21 May 2026. The old profile incorrectly said that these fees were unavailable.
| Year level |
Annual fee |
| Maternelle |
€5,090 |
| Élémentaire |
€4,697 |
| 6e and 5e |
€4,549 |
| 4e |
€4,897 |
| 3e |
€4,965 |
| Seconde |
€5,021 |
| Première |
€5,490 |
| Terminale |
€5,794 |
Each figure already includes a €1,064 contribution to the investment fund. Do not add that contribution again. The table says compulsory teaching, lower-secondary digital-project equipment, examination and re-enrolment fees, and a school contribution to compulsory trips are included.
A pupil who starts during a term is charged for the entire term, and every term begun is due.
The schedule also lists family reductions based on the number of children enrolled. Optional secondary routes have additional annual charges. For example, the collège international section is €460; the lycée international section in Seconde is €880; and the BFI charge in Première and Terminale is €1,320. Confirm the option and year before budgeting.
Meals and care are separate. Primary meal plans run from €27 per month for one day a week to €135 per month for five days, billed over ten months. A secondary meal is €6.75. The same PDF lists early-morning care, activities, learning support lessons, and digital-book charges.
Use the complete fee schedule, not only the annual tuition row.
Financial assistance
Eligible French families can apply for AEFE means-tested school support through the French consular process. The school also has a solidarity fund for individual help with tuition, school-life, or meal costs.
The public page still displays a 2025 Scolaide deadline in one place. Treat it as historical. Ask for the current application timetable rather than reusing that date.
Our view
Choose Vauban when the French route, language expectations, and Gasperich journey fit the child. Compare the European Schools or ISL when eligibility, teaching language, or leaving qualification points elsewhere.
