Lycée français Jean-Monnet is a co-educational day school in Uccle, directly managed by AEFE, the agency for French education abroad. It follows the French curriculum from toute petite section, starting at about 2.5, through Terminale, the final lycée year. It has no boarding.

The school reports more than 60 nationalities. French nationality is not required, but children transferring from a French school in France or abroad receive priority.

Two sites and the journey

Maternelle, the preschool section, is at 1351, chaussée d’Alsemberg, 1180 Uccle, telephone 02 379 08 42. CP through Terminale, primary through the end of secondary, is at 9, avenue du lycée français, 1180 Uccle, telephone 02 379 08 10. The primary office also lists 02 379 08 84. Admissions can be reached at admission@lyceefrancais.be.

The school describes Uccle-Calevoet station as a 12-minute walk from the lycée. Its published local connections are tram 18 to Van Haelen for maternelle; for the main site, bus 43 to Kauwberg or Gui, bus 60 to Hellevelt, tram 18 to Engeland, and trams 92 or 97 to Dieweg. Confirm current services for the daily journey.

GETLYF, a parents’ non-profit association working with the school, describes 18 bus routes within a 20-kilometre radius. There is a maternelle shuttle between the sites. Ask transport@lyceefrancais.be or 02 379 08 68 for the route and price; the cited access page does not provide a fare.

French curriculum and optional pathways

French is the main teaching language. The route includes the brevet, the French lower-secondary qualification, and the Baccalauréat at the end of lycée. The school also lists Baccalauréat Français International (BFI) and Bachibac, the French-Spanish dual qualification. These are distinct from the IB Diploma and the European Baccalaureate.

Primary hourly-parity classes, which divide teaching time between languages, and secondary international sections have limited places. The French admissions page says entry depends on the file; the English page also mentions an entrance test. Confirm the requirements for the child’s chosen pathway rather than assuming ordinary school admission secures it.

The 2026–27 annex lists supplements of €160 for hourly parity, €850 for CHAMThé, a music-and-theatre adapted timetable, and €600 for secondary international sections, BFI and Bachibac.

The school’s statement that some foreign universities recognise the final French lycée year as comparable to first-year post-secondary study is not a guarantee of admission or university credit. Check the intended university’s own requirements.

Admissions

Online applications open from January, with no payment at application. Offers begin from April and continue as places become available. Enrolment is confirmed only when the file is complete and the non-refundable first-registration fee is paid.

The file requires a full birth certificate, parents’ identity documents, reports from the previous and current years, and a school-attendance certificate. Later, the family supplies the third-term report and an exeat, a leaving certificate confirming that the previous school’s accounts are settled.

Applications for full year groups go onto a waiting list; vacancies arise when other families withdraw. Midyear arrivals are considered case by case. The published class-age table is still headed September 2025, so ask for the correct placement year.

The French page advertised visits on 30 May 2026 at 10:00, lasting about 1 hour 30, for preschool children from 2.5 at Alsemberg and children from 6 at the main site. The English page still advertised 31 January 2026. Both are past dates. Virtual visits cover maternelle, primary and secondary; request a new in-person appointment separately.

The published September 2026 start

The notice dated 16 June 2026 gives this staggered start. These are first-day arrangements, not the normal weekly timetable.

Fees for 2026–27

Use the French admissions page and 2026–27 tariff annex. The English sign-up table is still labelled 2024–25, so its older prices should not be used for this year.

First registration costs €1,200 and is non-refundable.

Our view

European School Brussels I offers a different European Schools route and admissions system; International School of Brussels is an English-medium alternative with different qualifications and fees.
