Lycée Français de Madrid — choosing a campus and budgeting for the French route

Lycée Français de Madrid is a choice for families who want French-medium schooling and the French Baccalauréat. It is a co-educational day school in the AEFE network, France’s agency for education abroad, with two Madrid-area sites. There is no boarding provision.

The important practical distinction is the campus: the admissions procedure requires families to choose one site at step 3, rather than submit the same application to both.

Educational fit and daily arrangements

Across the school, provision extends from Toute Petite Section (TPS), an early preschool class, through Terminale, the final upper-secondary year. The French national route includes the Diplôme national du brevet at the end of collège, or lower secondary, and the Baccalauréat at the end of lycée, or upper secondary.

This offers continuity for a child already following the French curriculum. For a transfer from another system, ask about French-language readiness, placement and the classes available at the chosen site. The school’s overall age range should not be read as a promise that every stage is available at both addresses.

The published morning reception service is free from 08:30 at Conde de Orgaz for TPS–CM2, covering preschool and primary, and from 08:00 at La Moraleja for TPS–troisième, extending through lower secondary. These are reception times, not necessarily lesson start times.

The school reports more than 700 pupils using 48 bus routes across the two sites. That indicates substantial transport provision, but does not establish a convenient route or a free seat for a particular family. Check the relevant stop and journey time before choosing accommodation or accepting a campus.

For a British curriculum, compare Runnymede College or King’s College Soto. For an American route, compare American School of Madrid in Pozuelo. These are different educational choices as well as different journeys; proximity alone is not a reason to prefer one.

Admissions questions

Choose the site through the official application procedure, then confirm the requirements for the child’s year group. The research baseline does not establish an assessment threshold or a current waiting-list position. Ask admissions about both, rather than assuming that applying to one site guarantees admission or a later transfer to the other.

The fees and services page gives the following first-registration charges for 2026/27. They are additional to tuition, not the full annual cost.

At the research date, 1 September 2026, the quarterly tuition decisions accessible from the page were still labelled 2025/26. Those amounts should not be presented as confirmed 2026/27 tuition. Ask for the current written tuition schedule before comparing annual costs with another school.

The page also describes:

• Sibling tuition reductions of 10% for the third child and 50% from the fourth, when the children are enrolled at the same time.
• Individual meals at €9.45, non-refundable. Regular half-board meal enrolment commits the family for the term.

Our view

Choose LFM when the French curriculum and Baccalauréat are the intended route, and one of its sites works for the daily journey. It is less suitable if the priority is an English-medium British or American qualification.
