Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle Ankara: French curriculum on two sites

An AEFE school from early years to terminale, with maternelle in Ayrancı and older pupils in İncek. Its 2026–27 tuition groups French and Turkish pupils together, but first-registration fees group French pupils separately from everyone else.

Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle (LCDG) is Ankara’s French national school in the AEFE network, the Agency for French Education Abroad. The agency directly manages the school. Its French-system recognition runs from toute petite section, the earliest nursery class, through terminale, the final secondary year.

The school uses two sites. Maternelle is in the French Embassy grounds at Yazanlar Sokak in Ayrancı. Primary, collège and lycée are at Kızılçaşar Mahallesi, 1209 Sokak in İncek. The school prints number 22 for the İncek site while the AEFE directory has shown number 16; use the school’s directions and confirm the gate.

Curriculum and languages

Pupils follow the French national curriculum and work towards the diplôme national du brevet and French baccalauréat. The school describes a reinforced language path: French, Turkish and English by cycle 3, with German or Spanish potentially added from cycle 4.

The current school description includes the American-section Baccalauréat Français International (BFI). This is an enriched French baccalauréat route, not the International Baccalaureate. It adds English-language and subject study. Ask about entry requirements and availability in the child’s year; it is not the default programme for every secondary pupil.

Admission

Applications and re-enrolment use the Skolengo portal linked from the registration page. The page does not publish a general closing date. Ask the school which intake is open and what assessment or school reports are required for the child’s year.

A French school in Turkey is not automatically open on identical terms to every pupil. The fee table includes French, Turkish and other-nationality groups, but a fee category is not an admission guarantee. Confirm eligibility and any Turkish-authority requirements for the child’s citizenship and year.

Families seeking French government bursaries apply through the French consular process. LCDG also describes a separate solidarity fund, available to families of any nationality after committee review, for items such as supplies, trips, meals or transport. Neither form of support should be assumed before a written award.

Fees for 2026–27

The live registration page publishes annual tuition in euros.

Cycle French and Turkish pupils Other nationalities
Maternelle €9,927 €14,528
Primary €9,571 €13,898
Collège €9,927 €14,528
Lycée €11,048 €15,710

The tuition grouping is French and Turkish pupils together, with a higher column for other nationalities.

First-registration fees use a different rule: €2,500 for French pupils and €3,000 for everyone else. A Turkish pupil therefore uses the French/Turkish tuition column but the €3,000 non-French registration fee. Keeping those two rules separate avoids a substantial budgeting error.

The page also lists examination fees for pupils at LCDG and other recognised schools: €50 for the brevet, €80 for preliminary baccalaureate examinations and €160 for the baccalaureate. Independent candidates pay higher amounts.

The site publishes a consular conversion rate of TRY 1 = €0.0178 from 1 September 2026. Its financial explanation limits lira payment to families whose salaries are paid exclusively in Turkish lira. Exchange-rate treatment can change, so request the applicable rate in writing.

The financial regulation currently linked beside the 2026–27 table was last updated in January 2023. It provides tuition reductions of 20% for a second dependent child, 25% for a third and 30% for later children attending simultaneously. Employer-funded expatriate or resident arrangements can exclude reductions on the covered fees, so have the accounts office assess the family’s funding position.

The same regulation bills tuition by term and makes the family responsible even when an employer pays. A started month is charged in full on arrival or departure. A newly acquired nationality changes the fee classification only from the next school year after the school has been notified and given evidence.

First-registration fees are due before attendance and are normally non-refundable. Documented medical reasons or force majeure can support a written refund request. Re-enrolment requires both the school’s deadline and payment of outstanding bills to be met.

Canteen and transport are not included in the tuition table above. Ask for those prices, site-specific routes and withdrawal terms before accepting.

Daily logistics

Young children and older siblings attend different sites. Test Ayrancı and İncek journeys separately; an address convenient for the embassy nursery may not work for a daily İncek run.

Compare Ernst-Reuter-Schule for a German route, noting its exclusion of Turkish citizens including dual nationals. Compare BLIS for English-medium IGCSE and IB, or British Embassy School Ankara for an English route through age 16.

LCDG is strongest for a pupil seeking French curricular continuity through the baccalauréat. Before deciding, establish the child’s site, language support, actual diploma route, admission status and full cost including meals and transport.
