Bilkent Laboratory and International School, or BLIS, is a co-educational day school on Bilkent University’s East Campus in Ankara. Its address is Üniversiteler Mahallesi, Doğu Kampüs, Bilkent, Ankara 06800.
The FAQ describes a site about 14 kilometres from the city centre, with two early-years buildings and buildings for elementary through high school. The school offers education from pre-kindergarten through Grade 12.
Who it suits
BLIS is worth considering for Turkish and international families seeking international programmes in Ankara. Its FAQ welcomes applicants from both backgrounds; nationality alone does not establish a place.
Elementary teaching uses English and Turkish. From middle school, the FAQ describes English-medium teaching. Turkish pupils must also follow requirements of MEB, Turkey’s Ministry of National Education.
For a Turkish or dual-national applicant, ask which Turkish-curriculum subjects and examinations are compulsory. English-medium teaching should not be interpreted as removing national curriculum obligations.
BLIS is less suitable if the family wants a French or German qualification. Compare Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle for a French route, while checking its separate admissions conditions.
Programme stages
The existing school information describes these stages:
- Elementary: the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP), alongside Cambridge provision.
- From Grade 5: the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
- Grades 9–10: Cambridge International GCSEs (IGCSEs), subject qualifications taken before the final school years.
- Grades 11–12: the two-year IB Diploma Programme.
The school cites accreditation by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), alongside Ministry recognition. These are institutional statuses, not additional qualifications awarded to pupils.
Daily arrangements
The FAQ gives school hours of 08:00–16:00. Its stated class limits are 17 in pre-kindergarten, 19 in kindergarten, and 20 in Grades 1–12.
Hot lunch is included in the school programme, with snacks described for elementary and middle-school pupils. The school requires medical documentation for exceptions to its meal policy; discuss dietary needs before accepting.
A third-party bus service costs extra. Details are supplied at enrolment, so request the route, timetable and charge before relying on it for the school journey.
Applying and assessment
Start through the admissions page. The office then provides the remaining steps. There is an application fee, but its amount was not established in the existing research.
The 2026/27 information described these assessments:
| Stage |
Published process |
| Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten |
Group interview lasting about 60 minutes; parents wait nearby |
| Grade 1 |
Interview after the form and application fee |
| Grades 2–8 |
Entrance examinations in May; an August sitting typically for families arriving after April from outside Turkey |
| Grades 9–11 |
One formal examination date in May |
Middle-school applications also require the previous two years of reports. Confirm the documents required for the child’s precise stage.
The May and August 2026 assessment periods have passed. Ask about the next intake or a specific late-entry possibility; do not assume a further sitting exists.
A separate exam-information page still carried 2023 deadlines in the existing research. Those dates should not be reused for a current application.

Fees and the decision to accept
The researched school pages did not establish tuition, application-fee or bus amounts. Request the applicable year’s written schedule, including enrolment charges, tax treatment and any additional services.
Also obtain payment, withdrawal and refund terms. Confirm lunch inclusions and dietary arrangements, and ask whether language or learning support is available at an additional cost.
