ISZL offers English-medium education on two campuses in Zug canton, with a choice of upper-secondary study beyond the full IB Diploma. It is a non-profit, co-educational day school for ages 3–18. The change of campus at Grade 9 is an important part of planning the school journey.

Baar for younger pupils, Hünenberg for High School

Zug Campus, Walterswil 1, 6340 Baar, serves Early Years, Primary and Middle School, approximately ages 3–14. The school describes about 800 pupils around the seventeenth-century Wettinger House and modern buildings in a rural setting.

Riverside Campus, Rothusstrasse 4b, Hünenberg, serves Grades 9–12, approximately ages 14–18, with about 400 pupils. The school page uses both postcodes 6331 and 6330; confirm the postal address if sending documents. Contact +41 41 768 29 00 or office.riverside@iszl.ch.

Riverside is 17 km from Baar, near Hünenberg Zythus station. Its facilities include more than twenty classrooms, laboratories, a library, art and music rooms, a triple gym and space in Seeblick and Alpenblick. The school estimates forty minutes by car to Zurich Airport, not a guaranteed daily journey time.

Bergheim, the school’s mountain chalet, supports outdoor education; it is not presented as routine boarding accommodation. Check both campus journeys if siblings attend different stages or a child is approaching Grade 9.

Programmes and qualifications

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme covers approximately ages 3–11. The Middle Years Programme follows in Middle School, ages 11–14, and continues in Grades 9–10 at Riverside. Those High School years include eight or nine subjects and at least two languages.

In Grades 11–12, the school describes two routes leading to its ISZL High School Diploma:

  • The full IB Diploma Programme.
  • The ISZL High School Programme, which can combine Advanced Placement (AP) courses, the advanced courses of the US system, ISZL courses, individual IB courses and a BTEC Diploma in Creative Media, a vocationally oriented qualification.

The school describes its High School Diploma as accredited through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). This does not make every combination of AP, BTEC and school courses equivalent to a full IB Diploma. Discuss the chosen combination against the requirements of the universities and courses the student is considering.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) support is offered. Ask what support is available in the proposed grade and how it fits the intended qualification route.

Applying

Contact Admissions through iszl.ch. The reviewed pages do not give a complete public testing sequence, general deadline or waiting-list length. Ask for the process for the child’s age and desired entry date. For Grade 11, confirm whether previous subjects and language preparation permit a full Diploma programme.

Kindergarten or above CHF 5,000

Enrolment commits the family to the whole school year. Invoices are payable within thirty days. Private payers may arrange two, three, four or eight instalments with billing@iszl.ch, at CHF 200 per child per year. Families enrolling after August 2026 may have fewer payment options. Overdue fees attract 12% annual interest.

Lunch, buses, College Board/AP/IB examination fees and optional trips are excluded from tuition. For a new Grade 9 pupil, tuition and registration total a calculated CHF 44,100 before these extras or any instalment charge.

Compare Institut Montana if boarding or a Swiss maturité is essential. ISZL’s mountain chalet does not meet a routine boarding need.
