An English-medium IB day school with subsidised provision and eligibility conditions. Confirm the current fees, entry date and commute before applying.
International School Utrecht is a subsidised, fee-paying international day school offering English-medium IB education from kindergarten through the Diploma Programme. It is most relevant to internationally mobile families who meet its eligibility rules, rather than families simply seeking an English-speaking alternative to their neighbourhood school.
The school is part of Dutch International Primary Schools (DIPS) and Dutch International Secondary Schools (DISS). Primary provision is governed by SPO Utrecht, secondary by NUOVO Scholen; families with children in both sections receive separate invoices.
The eligibility page describes provision for internationally mobile pupils based temporarily in the Netherlands. Returning Dutch nationals may apply if they have both lived and attended school abroad for at least two years. Admission is subject to Dutch legislation; ask the school to assess the family’s circumstances against its Admissions Policy.
The International Baccalaureate sequence comprises the Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). English Language Acquisition support is available. From Grade 9, pupils must demonstrate enough English to access the curriculum, and a language assessment may form part of enrolment. These are international-school Grades, not Dutch primary-school groups.
For a child who can study in Dutch and wants a Dutch pre-university qualification after primary school, compare Utrechts Stedelijk Gymnasium. That is a different curriculum and admissions route, not a substitute IB school.
For 2026/27, the address is Van Deventerlaan 1, 3528 AG Utrecht. The applications page describes a planned move to a purpose-built campus on Cambridgelaan at Utrecht Science Park before the start of 2027/28. Plan the current commute separately from the announced future location.
There is no school bus. On-site after-school care for ages 4–11 is provided by Kind & Co Ludens and requires separate registration. Ask the provider about availability and fees.
From Grade 6, every pupil is expected to have an Apple MacBook. Primary families are encouraged to have a device at home. The school links an Apple webshop and 36-month QSX insurance; request current purchase and insurance costs rather than assuming they are included in tuition.
Applications use OpenApply. The school indicates a response within five working days, which should not be interpreted as a guaranteed admission decision. The linked Admissions Guide in the research baseline was still titled 2025/26; confirm which version applies.
The published 2026/27 entry dates are:
The first school day was Wednesday 2 September 2026. Agree an available entry date with admissions rather than assuming a pupil can start on any school day.
The fees page links the Standard Terms and Conditions 2026/27, which contain the fees. It also retains the 2025/26 version. We have not verified the current amounts, so this profile does not quote an annual fee.
Request the 2026/27 terms and a complete cost breakdown for the child’s section. Primary and secondary are invoiced by different governing bodies; confirm the responsible office through the school. Include the laptop and any separately registered childcare in the family budget.
The Utrecht guide covers local comparisons, while the Netherlands guide explains the wider system.

Friendly orientation, not an application. Dates, fees, and programme details move. Confirm everything with the school.

WassenaarASH is a private day school in Wassenaar offering an American diploma with IB and AP options. Families should budget for annual tuition and capital fees, plus a separate enrolment charge. Special Education carries an additional annual fee.
AmsterdamAICS is a state-funded Dutch international day school for internationally mobile families. It offers the full IB continuum in English across two Amsterdam campuses. Statutory eligibility, available places and support capacity all matter before a place can be offered.
Bergen NHEuropean School Bergen is a day school for ages 4–18, with English, Dutch and French language sections and the European Baccalaureate. Admission rights and fees depend on the pupil category. Families paying tuition should resolve a discrepancy between the school’s own 2026–27 table and the central European Schools figures before accepting a place.
International School Utrecht is an English IB school for internationally mobile pupils. Utrechts Stedelijk Gymnasium is a Dutch public vwo school with Latin and Greek.
7 minStart with the qualification your child would actually receive. Then check its subjects, language demands, and recognition in the countries where they may study next.
7 minStart with your child and the family's likely plans. Define the non-negotiables, verify the school's claims, compare three realistic options and visit with specific questions.
7 minTuition is only one line of the budget. Separate charges from advance payments, record what each figure includes, and ask the school to confirm your calculation in writing.
