Choosing a school in Málaga: British curriculum or French lycée

The British School of Málaga and Lycée Français International de Málaga share a postcode but lead to different qualifications. Compare curriculum, languages and complete fees.

These two day schools are both in the 29018 area, but the educational choice is clear.

The British School of Málaga, on Calle Centáurea, follows the British curriculum from age three. Later pupils take IGCSEs and A Levels while also studying Spanish subjects. It is the better fit for a child continuing in the British system.

Lycée Français International de Málaga, on Calle Flamencos, follows the French national curriculum from Petite Section to Terminale and leads to the French baccalaureate. As an AEFE-contracted school, it is relevant to families wanting continuity with France or another French school abroad. Ask how French and Spanish support works for a newcomer at the proposed entry age.

Neither school offers boarding.

Compare complete 2026–27 charges

The British School publishes 2026–27 annual tuition with lunch included, plus separate registration and annual enrolment fees. Examination fees and some English-language support are additional. Confirm the correct year-group total and any required device or uniform costs.

The French lycée publishes separate 2026–27 columns for EU and non-EU families, with annual or ten-month payment options. Establish which nationality category applies and add first-registration, meals, transport and other charges in its financial rules.

Its admissions page contained contradictory statements: one heading said 2026–27 pre-registration was closed and directed families to a form from 24 August 2026, while another paragraph said the same year was open. Ask the school which intake the form now serves. Do not infer availability from either stale line.

Choose the routine as well as the qualification

Test both streets from your proposed home even though they share a postcode. Ask about the after-school journey and the language pupils use outside lessons. For a long stay, include a Spanish local school in the comparison rather than treating international education as the default.

The Málaga hub, Spain guide and school profiles hold the detailed fees and official sources.

Friendly orientation, not formal admissions advice. Always confirm dates with the school.
