Danube International School, the city IB house in the 2nd

A central Vienna IB day school, not the UN woods and not the vineyard campus. Priority goes to international-organisation and diplomatic families. The last full fee PDF we could open is 2025/26. Ask for this year’s sheet before you budget.

Danube International School Vienna is a co-educational IB day school at Josef Gall-Gasse 2, 1020 Vienna. Switchboard +43 1 7203110. info@danubeschool.com. Legal name on the fee PDF: Danube International School GmbH. The admissions page says it plainly: applications from all backgrounds, and priority for families connected with international organisations and diplomatic missions.

This is not Vienna International School in the UN weather, and not AIS Vienna in the woods and vineyards. DISV is the inner-district IB house. Three doors. One capital. Almost no Monday in common. Sit on the tram in Jänner.

The useful questions are: Are you a UN/OSCE/embassy file, or a city family? Can this child live with English as the classroom and German as the 2nd district? And has the school posted 2026–27 fees yet, or are you still reading last year’s PDF?

Who it is for

Families who want PYP, MYP and DP in the city, not a campus beyond the Gürtel. Families who can accept that after-school activities are included in the published tuition — the school names 30 activities in session 1 — and that English-language development and learning support are extra.

It is a day school. The 2025/26 PDF mentions optional places in three boarding institutes in Vienna, €700–€1,000 a month including supervision and meals, arranged through registrar@danubeschool.com. That is not a DISV boarding house. Do not confuse it with Salem or a Swiss corridor.

The campus you can actually picture

Josef Gall-Gasse, 2nd district. Central, on the school’s own claim, with easy access for families. 47 mother tongues on the admissions page. Over 60 nationalities.

Ask to see Grade 2 and Grade 11, not only the entrance. Time the Bim from the flat you will actually rent. Leopoldstadt in January is not a concert-hall evening.

How the years are organised

Early years 3–5. PYP 5–11. MYP 11–16. DP 16–19. Privately taught languages and English Language Development have their own pages. The calendar we read named Monday 24 August 2026 as the first day of the 2026–27 school year. Confirm the live calendar.

How a child actually gets in

The admissions team walks a personal process. Priority for IO and diplomatic families is the sentence that matters if places are tight. How-to-apply and policy pages sit beside the fees page. We will not invent a closing date. Visit if you can.

Prospective parents from UNO, OSCE and embassies are told to ask their organisation about special fee-payment arrangements.

Money — the last full schedule we could open is 2025/26

When we researched in September 2026, the downloadable fee schedule was still 2025/26. Do not treat it as 2026–27. Ask whether a new PDF exists. The figures below are last year’s published table, so you know the shape of the bill.

New-student charges, 2025/26

Charge EUR
Application 300
Enrolment 4,500
Capital (non-refundable, any entry or exit date) 2,800
Refundable security deposit 365

Annual tuition, 2025/26 (two equal instalments 15 July and 1 December 2025; 2% off if the whole year was paid by 15 May 2025)

Grade Annual EUR
EYU 1–2 18,226
Foundation / Grade 1 26,256
Grades 2–3 26,660
Grade 4 26,694
Grade 5 26,806
Grades 6–10 31,218
Grade 11 33,324
Grade 12 33,562

Included in that year’s tuition, on the PDF: classroom instruction, IB DP exams, MYP moderation, CATs and ISA, books on loan, yearbook, photos, one PE kit for new students, whole-grade overnight trips Grades 2–10, day trips, swimming and ice-skating extras, after-school activities.

Extra in 2025/26: ELD €1,605 per semester; learning support A €1,605 / B €3,210 per semester; extended €8,032; comprehensive €22,498. Named extra trips (MUN, Grade 11 geography/biology, Waluka, tournaments) billed per trip. PADIS parent association €50 per family, invited not compulsory in the wording.

Late payment that year: 1% per month. All fees in euros, to Danube International School GmbH.

A first-year Grade 6 place was not “about €31,000.” It was application + enrolment + capital + deposit + the annual band. Do the sum on this year’s sheet.

What to ask on the stairs

Ask for the 2026–27 PDF. Ask whether your organisation has a fee arrangement. Ask how a child without German lands in the 2nd district yard. Walk VIS and AIS the same week. The commute is the whole difference.

What we are not claiming

We are not ranking DISV against VIS. We are not reprinting 2025/26 as if it were this year’s bill. Read the current fees page before you treat Josef Gall-Gasse as a bargain. This is a map. The school still has to be the right Tuesday.
