St George’s British International School is a co-educational, not-for-profit day school in Rome, serving ages 3–18, Red Dragons through Year 13. It follows a British curriculum in English and offers post-16 IB Diploma and A-Level routes. It has no boarding.
The main address is Via Cassia km 16, La Storta, 00123 Rome. Contact +39 06 308 6001 or info@stgeorge.school.it.
Two junior sites, one senior destination
Both La Storta and City Centre Junior offer Red Dragons to Year 6. City Centre pupils usually move to La Storta for Year 7. That later journey should be part of the family’s housing decision.
La Storta occupies a 25-acre hillside on the Via Cassia, with views over Veio Regional Park. It has been the school’s home since the 1960s. The six-floor senior building includes computing rooms, drama, library, science, art and design facilities. Junior pupils use a separate renovated building and playground. A new Jubilee junior building has opened as part of a wider development plan.
Shared sports facilities include synthetic multi-use pitches, a full-size football and rugby pitch, a four-lane track and a long-jump pit.
City Centre Junior is on Via di Santa Maria Mediatrice, near the Vatican. The school describes a 1,500 m² building with classrooms, library and playgrounds, plus use of two football pitches, an indoor gym, a 400-seat auditorium and a 25-metre pool. Confirm which facilities and rooms the child’s year uses.
Curriculum and qualifications
The enhanced UK National Curriculum leads to IGCSE, subject examinations normally taken in Year 11. St George’s has been an IB World School since 1996. A-Levels were introduced in 2025, with the first results expected in summer 2027. The IB is a broad diploma; A-Levels are qualifications in selected subjects. Ask about available combinations and entry requirements.
The school also awards a High School Diploma under its NEASC accreditation. Its profile lists HMC membership and recognitions through BSO, CIS, COBIS and NEASC. These institutional credentials are separate from the pupil’s final qualification.
The homepage announces a UAL Foundation Diploma in Art & Design and says the school is accredited to deliver it. Confirm whether this is available for the particular applicant. Italian appears in the 2025 IB subject table, but that does not establish every younger child’s Italian timetable.
For IB 2025, the school reports 71 candidates, an average of 36 and 100% passing. This is one cohort, not an individual prediction.
The profile describes over 200 clubs, 20 music ensembles, four Houses and six student-leadership committees in Years 7–13, alongside Athlete Friendly Education Centre recognition. Ask which activities fit the child’s timetable and whether they cost extra.
Admissions
The available admissions information does not establish a specific test rule, waiting-list length or current place. Ask how the intended year is assessed, whether the desired start month is possible and whether there is an assessment charge.
The school offers visits and virtual tours of both sites. Confirm the application form and requirements directly before arranging travel. Its statement that it is inclusive is not a child-specific support plan; discuss any learning or language needs in advance.
Fees for 2026–27
The fee schedule gives annual tuition including lunch, with different rates when paid directly by a parent or directly by an employer.

A one-off, non-refundable registration fee of €4,000 per child is due on acceptance. Annual re-enrolment is €350.
Annual return bus travel costs €4,150 door-to-door or €2,650 by shuttle; an occasional journey costs €20. Published examination estimates are €1,000 for IB in Year 13 only and €1,200 for IGCSE in Year 11 only.
For a new parent-funded Year 7 pupil, registration plus annual tuition totals €28,400 including lunch. With the annual door-to-door bus, that becomes €32,550, before any other applicable charges. Confirm how the annual re-enrolment item applies to a new entrant rather than silently adding or excluding it.
Our view
St. Stephen’s is a different four-year American/IB high-school option with boarding, not an alternative for a three-year-old. AOSR and Chateaubriand have different curricula.
