Moraitis is worth considering for a family that wants Greek-medium schooling in Psychico, with the option of an English-medium International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) later. It is a private day school, from nursery through secondary education, rather than an English-medium international school throughout.
The important choice comes in upper secondary: the Greek programme leads towards the apolytirio, the school-leaving certificate, while the IB Diploma is a separate qualification. Pre-IB is a preparatory year, not a final diploma. Confirm the intended programme before comparing fees or arranging an assessment.
Programmes and language expectations
The school includes nursery and kindergarten, primary (dimotiko), lower secondary (gymnasio) and upper secondary (lykeio). The first year of lykeio, Α΄ λυκείου, can be taken as the separately priced Pre-IB year. The IB Diploma Programme follows that year.
Greek matters well before the final qualification. Applicants transferring into primary need the knowledge and skills expected in their prospective class, as well as English at the school’s level. For primary Years 5 and 6, French, German or Spanish is also required.
The general admissions page has an awkwardly worded secondary-language requirement: it names English, French, and German or Spanish. Ask admissions which combination and level apply to the child’s class; do not assume that English alone is sufficient.
For IB entry, the school sets English at least at Cambridge First Certificate (FCE) level. Ask for the available IB subjects and the combination that would support the student’s university plans.
Admissions by age
The general admissions rules distinguish three stages:
- Nursery, the first kindergarten year and first primary year: school psychologists meet parents and children to assess learning readiness and emotional maturity. Siblings, parents who are alumni and the application date also count. The stated deadline is 1 December before the intended entry year. Selection runs from November to February, except nursery, where it takes place in March and April.
- Intermediate primary years: applications depend on vacancies. Selection in May includes written and oral assessments and an interview. The child must meet at least the class’s average knowledge and skills, alongside the language requirements above.
- Secondary: the general page specifies examinations for all gymnasio classes and the first two lykeio years. Satisfactory previous grades are also required. The usual selection period is March to May.
These standing rules do not establish a current vacancy or the next examination date. Ask for the process for the exact class and intended start.
The published 2026 examination round
The scholarships and enrolment notice, dated 28 July 2025, concerned entry in 2026/27. Applications closed on 6 March 2026 and the written examination took place on Saturday 14 March, with a €100 participation fee. Those dates have passed.
For fee-paying entry to the first gymnasio year and first lykeio/Pre-IB year, candidates took Greek, mathematics and general-knowledge papers. The notice said advance preparation was unnecessary. The top fifteen were invited to interviews on 18–27 March 2026. Excellent conduct was required, and other aspects of the candidate’s personality were considered.
Scholarship candidates took the same written papers. The top fifteen proceeded to further learning assessment and interviews on Sunday 15 March 2026. Excellent academic performance and excellent conduct were both conditions. This notice does not establish a scholarship amount or entitlement for a later applicant.
IB applications
The dedicated IB admissions page gives a pre-registration window from 1 December, while the student is in the first lykeio year, until 30 April of the following calendar year. The application form goes to admissions@moraitis.edu.gr.
Its document list includes:
- first-term grades from the first lykeio year and the gymnasio leaving certificate;
- the latest English certificate, at least FCE level, and any other language certificates;
- any sporting or artistic certificates;
- identity document, two passport photographs and an essay in English.
The general page says the school considers the gymnasio certificate, first-semester lykeio marks and a late-March interview. The dedicated IB page places the interview in April. Confirm the appointment and the precise report period required when applying.
Keep the school informed of any change of address or telephone number: its admissions page says it is not responsible for failed contact following such changes. Ask which vaccination records must accompany enrolment.
Location and the school day
The published address is Alexandrou Papanastasiou and Agiou Dimitriou, 154 52 Psychico. The school’s related cultural organisation also uses this address; that contact listing is not evidence of a second campus. Confirm the entrance used by the child’s section when arranging a visit.
The timetable in the 2025–26 fee document was:

The non-refundable admission-process fee for Greek-programme candidates was €100. First-year registration was €300 for a new family in the Greek programme or €150 for IB; for a sibling joining, the corresponding amounts were €150 and €75. Ask the school to distinguish application and registration charges on the offer.
For existing pupils, re-enrolment required a deposit of €2,000 for the Greek programme or €3,000 for IB by 15 May 2025. It was credited towards tuition, not added to the annual fee. Withdrawal by 31 May 2025 qualified for a full deposit refund; from 1 June it was non-refundable.
The 2025–26 payment schedule was:
- Re-enrolment deposit by 15 May 2025.
- First 40% of annual tuition, including that deposit, by 15 September 2025.
- A further 30% by 15 December 2025.
- The final 30% by 15 March 2026.
Payment for the whole year at once was also available. Non-combinable sibling discounts on compulsory-programme tuition were 5% for the second child, 10% for the third and 30% for the fourth.
Additional costs and notice
The same document listed a €50 annual Inspired Metaverse Fee, charged in October, from primary Year 4 through the final gymnasio year. IB examinations cost €850 in the second Diploma Programme year, charged in November.
Annual bus fees across zones 1–4 were €1,500–€2,200 for kindergarten/primary and €1,400–€2,000 for gymnasio, lykeio and Pre-IB. IB1 and IB2 had lower rates in the document; request the applicable route quotation. One-way transport received a 30% reduction, and afternoon-zone transport cost €200 annually.
Leaving either the school or the bus service required one term’s notice. Afternoon activities were a whole-term commitment, with the activity list published before the school year. Check these terms in the current contract as well as the current prices.
Our view
Moraitis makes most sense if Greek schooling is a deliberate choice and the child can meet the relevant language and academic entry requirements. The later IB option adds flexibility, but does not turn the younger years into an English-medium programme or guarantee admission to IB.
The Athens guide and Greece overview can help you compare this choice with other local education options.
