Curriculum and language requirements

The international sections combine the French lycée curriculum with substantial study in English for the American section or Spanish for the Spanish section. The school dates the change from OIB to BFI to the 2022 school start, with the first BFI examinations in 2024.

The BFI includes specific examinations in the section language and history-geography, plus a connaissance du monde oral, a component concerned with understanding the contemporary world. It is a French baccalaureate, not the IB Diploma.

Admission

International-section admission can operate outside the normal catchment allocation and is decided by the academic authority. French pupils need prior international-section study, time spent in a country using the section language, or a sufficient language level. Foreign pupils need adequate command of both the section language and French. Assessment includes written and oral aptitude tests.

The school still hosts 2026 American international Seconde and Première BFI application files. The Première BFI schedule required submission through the sending lycée by Friday 13 March 2026, invitations on Thursday 26 March, and tests at Magendie on Wednesday 1 April 2026.

Another admissions paragraph remains labelled 2025, with 14 March, an oral on 26 March and a written test on 9 April. Those older dates should not be mixed with the 2026 file. The previous open day listed by Onisep was 28 February 2026. None of these establishes a 2027 calendar or a current late-entry route.

Boarding and costs

Although Magendie is a day-school site, Onisep describes boarding arranged externally at Lycée professionnel Toulouse-Lautrec, only for STD2A and international-baccalaureate pupils. Confirm eligibility, availability and the daily transfer; this is not an unrestricted on-site boarding offer.

The lycée is public. The cited pages do not give a boarding or meal price. Obtain those charges directly rather than importing a private school’s fee schedule.

Our view

International School 33 offers a different private bilingual route in Gradignan. It serves younger ages as well, so the two are not interchangeable for every child. Compare the desired diploma and practical journey, then confirm the next published admissions cycle.
