Lycée Franco-Hellénique Eugène Delacroix — French and Greek schooling in Athens

LFHED offers two distinct educational routes in Aghia Paraskevi: a French curriculum from preschool to the baccalauréat, and Greek lower and upper secondary schooling. Choose the section first. Its curriculum, admissions process and fees determine the child's experience.

Lycée Franco-Hellénique Eugène Delacroix, usually shortened to LFHED, is a co-educational day school in Aghia Paraskevi, northeast of central Athens. It brings French and Greek schooling together on one campus without merging them into one curriculum.

The school has an agreement with the Agency for French Education Abroad, or AEFE. Its French section provides continuity with the French national system. Its Hellenic section follows Greek programmes and regulations. That distinction is more useful for choosing a school than the general description “bilingual”.

Two educational routes

The French section runs from Petite Section, the first preschool year, through Terminale, the final year of lycée. Primary includes maternelle and five elementary years, CP to CM2. Secondary comprises four collège years and three lycée years, ending with the French baccalauréat.

The school also offers a British international section within the French programme. It is not an independent British school or a substitute for an English-medium IB education. Ask which classes offer it, how pupils are selected and what additional language work it involves.

The Hellenic section comprises gymnasio and lykeio, Greece’s lower and upper secondary stages. It follows the Greek educational route while giving particular emphasis to French language and culture.

Choose the French section if continuity with French schooling is the priority. Consider the Greek section if the child needs the Greek curriculum but the family values substantial French study. For English-medium schooling, compare separate options such as Campion or St Catherine’s.

French-section admissions

The admissions page lists priorities in this order:

  1. Children already attending a school in France or a French school abroad.
  2. For entry to CP only, children from partner preschools.
  3. Applicants from another educational system, subject to space and approval to take admission tests.
  4. Applicants with a sibling at LFHED, also subject to file review and approval for tests.

The partner-preschool category does not apply to secondary entry. A sibling link is therefore not an unconditional offer.

Applications are submitted through the school’s platform. The 2026/27 campaign was announced for March 2026. The normal test sessions are April for primary and May for secondary applicants already in Greece, with August sessions for applicants who were abroad. As of 4 September 2026, those months have passed. For an immediate transfer, contact admissions about the current year’s remaining arrangements.

The required file includes identity and family documents, school reports from the previous and current years, and confirmation of current schooling. It also includes a photograph, vaccination information, the signed financial undertaking and any relevant custody decision. The school will not review an application without the application-fee receipt.

After admission, the one-time entry fee is normally due within seven working days. French families who have applied for a consular bursary must tell the school: payment is suspended until the decision and then adjusted to the awarded percentage. All required documents and signatures must be complete before the child attends.

Greek-section applications and visits

The Hellenic gymnasium and lyceum have their own admissions contacts on the Greek page. The page now announces preregistration for the first gymnasium year in 2027/28 and provides past entrance papers. Request the current examination and application dates directly; the French-section timetable does not cover this route.

The school normally holds Saturday-morning information sessions from November to January. Ask for the intended intake’s dates and make clear which section you want to visit.

Tuition for 2026/27

The official fee PDF publishes these annual amounts:

Programme Annual tuition
French maternelle and elementary, CP–CM2 €6,150
French collège €6,300
Collège international section, 6e–5e €6,700
French lycée €6,700
Hellenic gymnasium and lyceum €7,500

Tuition is increased by 20% when an employer funds it directly or indirectly. Ask how your employment package is classified before comparing a personal budget with an employer-paid quotation.

The school adds a non-refundable €40 application fee and €900 first-enrolment fee. Annual insurance is €12 for every pupil, including bursary recipients. The first-enrolment fee is paid only once during schooling but does not preserve a place after cancellation.

Tuition is paid in three parts: 40% by 16 October 2026, 30% by 19 February 2027 and 30% by 30 April 2027. Any term started is payable in full.

Meals, transport and other expenses

Meal subscriptions are annual, not termly:

Meal option Annual charge
Small menu, Petite Section through CE1 €875
Menu, CE2 through Terminale €962.50
Dish of the day, secondary pupils €787.50

These annual charges use the same 40%/30%/30% payment split. Occasional meals cost €5.50, €6.05 or €4.95 respectively. Pupils may also bring their own meal to eat in the school restaurant; the terrace cafeteria is reserved for secondary pupils.

School transport has five annual price bands, from €1,854 to €2,358, according to the stop. Regular use is charged as an annual package, even if the child does not travel every day. Request the route and stop quotation before choosing a home.

Examinations and optional activities add costs. The fee table lists €65 for the brevet, €115 for early baccalauréat examinations and €350 for the final baccalauréat. It also lists €30 for the Hellenic lyceum examination file. Obtain the chosen activity or childcare schedule separately.

Discounts and assistance

Families with three children enrolled simultaneously receive 10% off each child’s tuition and transport. From four children, or for triplets, the published tuition discount is 15% across the sibling group.

French-state bursaries are means-tested. Applicants must satisfy nationality, consular registration, residence and other conditions. The consular service sets the deadlines; school admission does not itself secure funding.

Our take

LFHED’s strongest attraction is the ability to follow a clear French or Greek educational route within a Franco-Hellenic community. It is particularly worth investigating for families expecting future study in France, or those wanting Greek schooling with sustained French-language learning.
