Harbour International Primary School is an English-medium primary day school at Graaf Florisstraat 56, 3021 CJ Rotterdam. Its brochure page identifies the school with Stichting BOOR, its governing foundation, and the Dutch International Schools network.
The main decision is whether English should be your child’s principal teaching language. Harbour offers Dutch lessons, but families planning a later move into Dutch-medium education need to consider the language preparation separately.
Who it is for
Harbour suits families who need English-medium primary education in Rotterdam and can budget for the annual fee. The FAQ says children receive two hours of Dutch language and culture per week, beginning only when their English is sufficiently developed to add another language. It warns that these limited hours cannot guarantee mastery of Dutch and that a later transfer to Dutch-medium or bilingual education may be difficult.
Compare a local basisschool, or Dutch primary school, if learning through Dutch is the long-term priority. Nord Anglia International School Rotterdam is another international option to compare on programme, fees and journey. For secondary education, investigate Rotterdam International Secondary School (RISS); its separate admissions process means a Harbour place is not an automatic secondary place.
How a child actually gets in
Contact the school through its admissions page to confirm eligibility and year-group availability. Ask which Dutch International Primary Schools (DIPS) admission conditions apply to your family’s circumstances; the reviewed FAQ does not set out the full eligibility rules.
The fee page says the application fee reserves a place even if arrival is delayed. Confirm the offer and reservation terms before paying. The reviewed pages did not establish an application deadline or current waiting-list position.
RISS describes a separate process for Harbour pupils: invitations follow the Grade 6 open day and a recommendation from the Harbour team. Confirm the relevant school year, timing and requirements with both schools.
Fees and the practical school day
The school-fees page lists:
| Line |
2026–27 |
| School fee, full year |
€4,500 |
| Application, one-off, non-refundable |
€300 |
Fees are reduced pro rata for a later start, meaning in proportion to the part of the year attended. The FAQ says a refund of overpaid fees may be possible for an early departure, subject to the 2026–27 terms. The €300 application fee is non-refundable.
Families may pay in one, two or three instalments; invoices to a company must be paid in one instalment. Monthly payments and credit cards are not offered. The school lists internet banking or cash; use its official fee page for payment instructions.
There is no canteen: children bring a nut-free packed lunch, eat in the classroom and cannot have food reheated. There is no school bus, boarding or on-site after-school care. The FAQ names four external BSO providers, meaning out-of-school childcare services. Ask those providers about availability, collection arrangements and charges.
The Rotterdam guide compares local options. The Netherlands guide explains the wider school system.
