It is not the John F. Kennedy School on Teltower Damm, and not Canisius-Kolleg by the Tiergarten. Kleinmachnow is Brandenburg. Time that road before you treat BBIS as a Zehlendorf Tuesday.
The footer names what the German paperwork is: genehmigte Ersatz- und Ganztagsschule in Grades 1–10, anerkannte Ergänzungsschule in Grades 11–12. Ask what that means for this child if you might stay. A Gymnasium down the S-Bahn is a different paper.
The useful questions are: Is this child a day commuter from Berlin or Potsdam, or a boarder from Grade 9? Have you read the maximum 2026–27 line and the reduction table for Grades 1–10? And have you added the one-time registration fee — €7,500 at the top of the table — because it sits beside the first year?
Families who want an English IB week south-west of Berlin, with beds from Grade 9, or a day commute they can survive in January.
Early Education, then PYP in Grades 1–5, MYP 6–10, IB Diploma 11–12. English is the language of instruction the home page names. The admissions page welcomes students of all nationalities, cultures, creeds and abilities, and considers applications throughout the school year based on space.
The boarding page calls BBIS the first English-language boarding school in Germany, and says it is home to around 70 boarding students in Grades 9–12. Treat that as the school’s own photograph. Head of Boarding: Steven Crossley, who lives on site with his family.
It will not suit a family hunting a Berlin public bilingual with no tuition, a Jesuit Gymnasium in Tiergarten, or a municipal yard that already knows the street. Walk those if that is the climate.

Online application, any time. €100 school application fee, credited when the contract is signed, and waivable in individual cases if you ask. Boarding adds a further non-refundable €100. Tests may include maths, German and English. If accepted: letter, contract, registration-fee invoice, boarding contract if any. Sign and pay the registration fee within three weeks.
The reduction programme is a separate door, handled by the Director’s Office, not by admissions. We will not invent a cutoff score or a waitlist.
Legal guardians may apply for a fee and registration-fee adjustment through the School Fee Reduction Programme. Grades 1–10 print a minimum of €175 and a maximum. Grades 11–12 print a single line. Early Education prints a single line; county Potsdam-Mittelmark local services, the page says, are already deducted.

Grade 12 does not include IBO examination fees. Registration for Grades 1–10 can fall under the reduction table; below €30,000 income the minimum registration does not apply.

School fees: 60% on 1 August, 40% on 1 January. Registration and deposits on signed contracts.
Reduction. Grades 1–10 only. Main residence in Germany. Positive gross income below €100,000. Assets count. The percentage table sits on a separate page. From 1 December 2023, apply any time; valid from that month, at most two months back. Monthly instalments exist once you are on the programme.
Boarding is in addition to school fees. Grades 9–12: €26,400. Application €100 (one time). Deposit €2,000 refundable. Single-room supplement €6,100 a year if applicable. Invoiced 60% on 1 September, 40% on 1 January.
We are not ranking BBIS against JFKS or Canisius. We are not calling Kleinmachnow a Berlin postcode. We are not inventing which reduction band this household meets. We are not treating “around 70” boarders as a census we counted. We are not inventing IBO exam euros.
Ask whether you are buying a day commute or a bed from Grade 9. Ask whether this year is Ersatzschule or Ergänzungsschule. Open the maximum line and the reduction table before you compare it to a Berlin public bilingual that charges no tuition.
