Choosing a school near Toulouse: two different routes in Colomiers

The International School of Toulouse teaches in English from age three. Lycée International Victor Hugo offers French secondary education with international and binational pathways.

Both schools in this comparison are in Colomiers, west of Toulouse, but they serve different educational needs. Start with the language your child can learn in now and the qualification they are working towards.

English-medium school or French lycée?

The International School of Toulouse is a private day school for ages 3–18, on Allée de l’Herbaudière. Pupils study in English, with IGCSEs followed by the IB Diploma in the later years. It is the more relevant option for a younger child or a pupil needing continuity in an English-medium programme.

Lycée International Victor Hugo, on boulevard Victor Hugo, is a public lycée from Seconde. Its British international route leads towards the Baccalauréat Français International. It also offers Abibac and Bachibac, which combine French qualifications with German and Spanish qualifications respectively. These routes are not an English-medium IB education: ask about the French level and section-language preparation required.

Neither of these schools offers boarding. A pupil who needs residential provision needs a wider search.

Confirm eligibility and a comparable budget

IST accepts applications during the year, subject to assessment and places. Its 2026–27 fees distinguish independent families, corporate sponsorship and eligible Airbus employees. Ask which category applies to your employment arrangement. Tuition is charged over ten months; add registration, capital charges where applicable and the refundable deposit separately. The canteen amount in the reviewed page was still labelled 2025–2026, so request the current charge.

Victor Hugo’s published British-section tests belonged to the 2026 intake. The reviewed French and English pages also differed by one day on the February dossier deadline. Those dates are past; ask the school for the next campaign’s definitive instructions, not a prediction based on last year.

Plan around Colomiers

Test both journeys from your intended home and workplace, including collection after activities. If you want French education before lycée, investigate the local primary or collège options rather than treating Victor Hugo’s lycée profile as an all-through school.

The Toulouse hub and France guide provide the wider context. The school profiles retain detailed fees and official source links.
