Milan · time both ring roads
Milan is not one American campus in Opera. It is that day house on Via Karl Marx, and a British not-for-profit on Via Pisani Dossi. Walk both, then an Italian courtyard.
Milan is not “the international school.” It is an industrial capital whose licei are allowed to be first, plus two official English-facing doors posting families name in the first week: an American campus south of the city, and a British not-for-profit in the north.
The portraits we have are the American School of Milan in Noverasco di Opera and the British School of Milan on Via Pisani Dossi. Use them for what the pages print. BSM’s 2026–27 PDF has private and corporate columns. ASM’s public fees page links a download and does not print the euros as text — we will not invent that line. This note is the city between them. The Italy country page is the wider map — Rome, Varese, Duino.
ASM sits on Via Karl Marx 14, 20073, south in Opera. Day only. The handbook will not board your child. IB since 1983, plus an MSA diploma. Parents commute. Time Noverasco, not the Duomo.
BSM sits on Via Pisani Dossi 16, in the north. Formerly Sir James Henderson. Not-for-profit British day house. IGCSE then IB. Lunch is run by someone else. Time the Niguarda gate.
They share a city and almost no Monday. Walk both, then a liceo courtyard, so you can hear which language the child relaxes in.
If you might stay, an English IB is not automatically the kindest paper. A liceo paritario, a municipal door — those are official mornings. The useful pairing is not two English-medium campuses. It is an international Monday and an Italian courtyard in the same week.
The language of the yard is the test.
Rome is another set of hills. Varese is a European School because of Ispra, not a Milan suburb. Duino is sixteen.
Ask which paper this child will hold — MSA diploma, IB, IGCSE, or maturità. Ask ASM for the live fee PDF in writing. Ask BSM what the registration fee due in ten days comes to for this child.
Time Noverasco and Pisani Dossi on the same Tuesday.
The city hub is the short map. The two portraits are the long ones.
Friendly orientation, not formal admissions advice. Always confirm dates with the school.
Tuition amounts are in a download the fees page offers. The handbook is clear about day-only life. That is the honest starting point.
MilanA not-for-profit British day school on one northern campus. The 2026–27 PDF prints private and corporate columns, a registration fee due in ten days, and lunch run by someone else. Time the Niguarda gate, not the Duomo.
RomeA not-for-profit American day campus on Via Cassia since 1947. The 2026–27 table prints a family capital fee and annual bands through Grade 12. Time the Cassia, not the Forum.
VareseThis is a Type 1 European School in Varese, there because of the Joint Research Centre at Ispra, not an IB campus south of Milan. The leaving diploma is the European Baccalaureate. Category I staff children are fee-exempt. Category III pays the 2026/27 Board table the school’s own fees page points to.
The letters on the leaver’s certificate matter. They are not the whole child. Here is how to tell them apart without a headache, and without pretending every door stays open.
16 minYou do not need a perfect algorithm. You need a few true things about your child, a boring list on the fridge, and the courage to ignore a beautiful campus that does not fit.
15 minTuition is the number on the homepage. The PDF is the number that arrives in March. Here is how to read the second one, without inventing a euro, a krona, or a deadline.
12 minSkip the question about last year’s average. Ask the ones that make a teacher’s face change. Then look at the corridor while they answer.
