The first question is your child’s age. École Jeannine Manuel Lille, in Marcq-en-Barœul, starts at Petite Section, the first preschool year. Lycée International Montebello, on boulevard Montebello in Lille, starts at Seconde, the first lycée year.
Which route fits?
Jeannine Manuel is a private bilingual school under contract with the French state. It offers both French BFI and IB Diploma pathways in the later years, and boarding from 6ème, the first collège year. It is the more relevant choice if you need younger years, bilingual continuity or boarding before lycée. Ask which language support is available at the proposed entry point.
Montebello is a public lycée with British, Spanish and Italian international sections, plus Bachibac. The international sections lead to the Baccalauréat Français International, a French qualification; Bachibac combines the French and Spanish school-leaving qualifications. Neither is the IB Diploma. This option suits a pupil ready for the French curriculum and the additional language demands of the chosen section.
Applications and boarding
Montebello’s international-section process combines a dossier and language tests with the public allocation procedure, Affelnet. Selection and final registration are separate steps. The published dossier deadline of 11 February 2026 has passed; ask for the next intake calendar or the procedure for a late arrival.
Montebello also has an internat listed by Onisep. Boarding is therefore not exclusive to Jeannine Manuel, but the age of access differs. Ask both schools about eligibility, availability, weekends and the current boarding charge.
Jeannine Manuel’s fee documents separate Lille day-school stages and boarding. Use the Lille schedule for your year and qualification, not the Paris school’s prices.
Before choosing a home
Compare the journey to rue Albert Bailly in Marcq-en-Barœul with the journey to boulevard Montebello. Include the return after activities, or the weekly boarding journey. Also check local public schools if your child needs a stage not covered by Montebello.
