Choosing a school in Lausanne: day IB or broader diploma and boarding options

International School of Lausanne offers a day IB continuum. Collège Champittet adds Swiss and French qualifications and boarding from age 11 at Pully.

International School of Lausanne and Collège Champittet differ most in qualifications and boarding, not simply in price.

Which qualification does the child need?

ISL is an English-medium day school at Chemin de la Grangette 2 in Le Mont-sur-Lausanne. It offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) continuum from age three through the Diploma. Choose it if the child needs one coherent IB route and will live locally.

Champittet offers the Swiss Maturité, French baccalaureate and IB Diploma in the later years. This makes it relevant when a family wants a Swiss or French national qualification as well as an international option. Ask which language each diploma route uses and when a pupil must commit to it.

Champittet’s Pully campus covers ages three to 18 and offers boarding for ages 11–18. The former Nyon campus ceased operating after June 2024, according to the head’s announcement. Do not use an older two-campus description when planning a journey or application.

Compare complete 2026–27 costs

ISL’s official 2026–27 PDF lists annual tuition from CHF 14,900 to CHF 39,380, depending on year group. For Years 1–13, the first child also has a CHF 5,000 acceptance fee; Reception 3 and 4 do not. Use the relevant row and add transport, meals and other stated extras rather than comparing the headline range.

Champittet publishes separate day and boarding summaries. Full boarding is listed at CHF 112,000 for 2026–27. Its day fees exclude some items, including transport, language support and examination registration. Check diploma-specific charges as well as the base fee.

Test the actual routine

For ISL, test the journey to Le Mont-sur-Lausanne. For Champittet, test the journey to Pully. If boarding is being considered, ask about weekends, guardianship, holidays and what happens when the pupil is ill.

Applications at both schools depend on places. Request a written offer showing the campus, year group, fee schedule and support before making a housing decision. Also compare the local cantonal school if French integration and a long stay are priorities.
