Leysin American School is a co-educational boarding school at Chemin de La Source 3, 1854 Leysin. Official site las.ch. Switchboard +41 24 493 4888. Admissions will talk about boarding or five-day boarding.
It is not Zurich International School, not Aiglon College above Villars, and not a Geneva day campus. The admissions page times Leysin at about 90 minutes from Geneva, four hours from Milan, six from Paris. Time that mountain. Sunday evening is the honest tour.
The home and admissions pages’ snapshot: about 280 students; over 50 nationalities; founded 1961 by Fred and Sigrid Ott; still family-run in the school’s telling. Treat those as the school’s own photographs.
The useful questions are: Is this child buying the IB Diploma, the LAS diploma, or AP courses beside one of those papers? And have you added the capital improvement and security deposit — CHF 10,000 each for new students — because they sit beside the annual line?
Who it is for
Families who want an English boarding week in the Alps, and who can live with a Sunday-evening bed rather than a Zurich kitchen light.
Diploma years are 11 and 12: IB Diploma or the LAS diploma. AP sits in 10, 11 and 12 on the AP page. We will not invent the youngest year the house will take this September. Ask admissions.
It will not suit a family hunting a Vaud collège with a maturité, or a day IB they have not timed. Walk those if that is the climate.
The campus you can actually picture
Chemin de La Source, Leysin. A ski village the school itself names. There is no day-only portrait on the pages we read. If you are buying a bed, stay for Sunday evening.
How a child actually gets in
Application fee CHF 500, once, with the form. Write admissions. We will not invent a cutoff or a waitlist.
Money, as the live tuition page prints it
The public table prints francs. It does not print a year on the table we read on 1 September 2026. Confirm the live page before you treat this as this year’s sheet.
| Item |
As printed |
| Application |
CHF 500 (once) |
| Security deposit |
CHF 10,000 (once; refunded within three months of leaving if the place is not cancelled) |
| Tuition (educational programmes, room and board) |
CHF 128,000 a year |
| Capital improvement fund |
CHF 10,000 (once, new students) |
| Personal account |
CHF 10,000 suggested, by 1 August or before arrival |
Tuition and capital are due 1 April or within ten days of acceptance. Cancel before 1 April and the page says fees except the deposit and application are reimbursed. After that date, new arrivals pay within ten days of acceptance.
We will not invent a five-day-boarding discount the table does not print. We will not invent a 2026–27 label the table does not wear.
What we are not claiming
We are not ranking LAS against Aiglon or Rosey. We are not calling 1961 a medal. We are not inventing a year for the franc table. We are not treating “280” as a census we counted.
Stairs questions
Ask whether this child is buying IB, the LAS diploma, or AP beside one of those papers. Ask the youngest year that still has a bed. Add the CHF 10,000 capital and deposit lines. Time Leysin on a Sunday evening, not a June open morning.
The Leysin hub is the short map. The Switzerland country page is the wider one.
