St George’s British International School is a co-educational, not-for-profit British international day school in Rome. The official site is stgeorge.school.it. The 2025–26 school profile prints the main address as Via Cassia km 16, La Storta, 00123 Rome. Switchboard +39 06 308 6001. info@stgeorge.school.it. Principal, on that profile: Dr John Knight.
It was founded in 1958 to serve Rome’s expatriate community. The profile snapshot is 1,010 pupils, 100 nationalities, a typical graduating class of 88, Sixth Form classes averaging 14. A large number of families, the school says, have United Nations or diplomatic connections, including the Vatican. Treat those numbers as the profile the school printed for 2025–26, not as a promise for the year you arrive.
This is not St. Stephen’s School on Via Aventina. St. Stephen’s is a four-year American/IB high school with about sixty boarders. St George’s is a through-school from age three, day only, British in the classroom, with a Senior School on a 25-acre hillside in the north of the city. They share a Rome and almost no Tuesday. Families who walk one in a Roman week should walk the other, then ask which paper and which commute they are actually buying.
The useful questions are: Will this child sit junior years near the Vatican, or on the Via Cassia? Can you live with a La Storta senior commute in January rain? And can you pay a one-off €4,000 registration fee as well as the annual band?
Families who want an English-medium British curriculum in Rome from Red Dragons (pre-reception, age 3) through Year 13, and who can either live in the north or run a city-centre junior and then a different senior bus.
The school calls itself inclusive and not-for-profit. It is a member of HMC. The profile lists accreditation by BSO, CIS, COBIS and NEASC. English is the language of instruction. Italian is present as a language in the IB table the school published for the class of 2025. It is not an Italian liceo. If you need a maturità as the main paper, this is the wrong door.
It will not board anyone. If you need a small Aventine boarding corridor, walk St. Stephen’s. If you need an American through-campus, walk the American Overseas School of Rome. If you need a French cantine, walk Chateaubriand.
La Storta. Home since the 1960s, the locations page says: spacious grounds on the ancient Via Cassia, views over the Veio Regional Park toward the Abruzzo mountains. The Senior School sits in a six-floor main building — ICT rooms, a drama studio, a library, science labs, art and design studios. The Junior School is on the other side of the same campus, in a renovated building with its own playground. Shared sport: 4G multi-purpose pitches, a full-size football and rugby pitch, a four-lane track and a long-jump pit. The school is in the middle of a campus masterplan; a Jubilee junior building has opened. Ask to see this child’s year, not only the hillside view.
City Centre Junior. Via di Santa Maria Mediatrice, close to the Vatican, south-west of the centro. The locations page prints a 1,500 square-metre building with new classrooms, its own library and playgrounds, and use of two football pitches, an indoor gymnasium, a 400-seat auditorium and a 25-metre pool. This is junior weather. After Year 6, pupils usually join Senior at La Storta.

Time both gates from the flat you will actually rent. A Vatican-side junior and a Cassia senior are not a footnote to each other. The school bus is a published extra.
An enhanced UK National Curriculum to IGCSE, then a post-16 choice. The school has been an IB World School since 1996. From 2025, A-Levels are a second pathway; the first A-Level results are due summer 2027. Both sit under a NEASC High School Diploma.
The home page also announces a UAL Foundation Diploma in Art & Design — the school says it is accredited to deliver it. Confirm with admissions whether that is a post-16 option for this child, not a poster.
The 2025 IB Diploma snapshot the profile printed: 71 candidates, average 36, pass rate 100%. Subject-level tables sit in that PDF. That is one cohort the school published, not a forecast.
Co-curricular life, on the profile: more than 200 clubs, 20 music ensembles, an Athlete Friendly Education Centre stamp, four Houses, six student leadership committees in Years 7–13.
The public admissions landing we opened was thin — a Finalsite page that mostly showed news. We will not invent a CAT4 rule or a waitlist from a directory. Open the live admissions pages on stgeorge.school.it, ask how this year group is assessed, and ask whether a place exists for the month you need.
What we can say from official pages: the school invites tours, including virtual tours of both campuses. Fees are printed for 2026–27. Confirm the apply form and any assessment fee with admissions before you budget a flight.
The fees page says tuition and lunch fees for 2026–27 are in the chart, euros per annum. Lunch is included in the annual tuition. Two columns: paid directly by the parent, or paid directly by the employer.

A first-year Year 7 place is not “about €24,400.” It is registration + the annual band + the bus if you need it. Do the sum on the live chart.
Ask which junior site this child would actually stand in on a wet Tuesday. Ask how a city-centre Year 6 moves to La Storta at Year 7. Ask whether this sixteen-year-old is an IB or an A-Level Tuesday — the A-Level path is new. Ask how much Italian a shy eleven-year-old really meets after lunch.
Walk St. Stephen’s in the same week if boarding or a four-year high school is even a maybe. Walk an Italian paritaria if you might stay.
We are not ranking St George’s among IB schools. We are not treating a 2025 average of 36 as your child’s result. We are not inventing an admissions test we could not read on the public apply page. We are not calling this the same childhood as the Aventine. Read the current fees and admissions pages before you sign a La Storta lease. This is a map. The school still has the file.
