This is not Salem on Lake Constance and not an IB campus. It is a Jesuit Gymnasium with an Internat in the High Black Forest. The 2026/27 kosten page prints euros for day pupils, boarders, guests and the Euroklasse. Sunday evening is the honest tour if you are buying a bed.

It is not Schule Schloss Salem. Salem sits on Lake Constance with Abitur or IB. St. Blasien sits in a Black Forest valley and finishes with the Abitur. If a relocation pack says “the German boarding school,” ask which valley and which paper.
The useful questions are local. Is this child a day pupil from Klasse 5, or a boarder from Klasse 7? Which 2026/27 price step is the entry year — 7–9, 10, or KS 11/12? And have you timed St. Blasien in November, not in July light?
Families who want a Jesuit Gymnasium week — the home page’s own mark is cura personalis — and who can live with a High Black Forest commute or a Sunday evening bed.
Day pupils enter from Klasse 5. The Klasse 5 page wants a Gymnasiumempfehlung, the Klasse 4 half-year report, the Klasse 3 certificate, a photo, the birth certificate, and a baptism certificate. Deadline printed for the coming Klasse 5: 12 March 2026. A taster afternoon for Grundschule families was printed for Friday 16 January 2026, 16:00.
Boarders, the Internat page is blunt, are taken from Klasse 7, and only if the child comes voluntarily, the decision made with the parents. An admissions conversation with the Schulleiter decides the year. The Aufbaugymnasium is a second door after a Realschulabschluss, for day and boarding pupils.
The Euroklasse is a named extra line on the 2026/27 kosten page, day or boarding, with its own euros. We will not invent what that class sits. Ask.
The 4 July 2026 news item: 111 pupils received Abitur certificates at the Jesuit college that weekend. Treat the number as one ceremony the school published, not a league table.
It will not suit a family hunting English IB only, or a lake-shore boarding house they have not timed. Walk Salem if that is the climate. They share a Land and almost no Monday.
One St. Blasien address. A historic college site the home page itself calls a challenge for climate work. Since September 2025 science lessons sit in the new Pater Adam Schall v. Bell SJ Zentrum für Naturwissenschaften. Ask which door this child actually uses.
The home page’s summer 2026 note: the 2025/26 year ended with reports on Friday 24 July 2026. Return day 14 September 2026. First school day 15 September 2026. The kosten page is separate: the fee year begins 1 August.
About 50 extra-curricular activities, the kosten page says, are free or nearly free. Nebenkosten for trips, books and private lessons are billed three times a year. Boarders, the same page says, naturally have more of those than day pupils who go home.
If you are buying a bed, Sunday evening is the honest visit. Summer “last rooms” are not a plan.

We did not find a published waitlist rule. Call and ask whether this year group has a seat.
The official table lives at kolleg-st-blasien.de/kosten, under the heading Schul- und Pensionskosten für das Schuljahr 2026/2027. Fees are collected quarterly. The page says an annual adjustment is to be expected each 1 August — about 3% for boarders, €5 more per month for day pupils. If a later PDF disagrees, trust the PDF.

Price steps 1 and 2 apply only if the child did not enter in the previous step. Enter earlier and that earlier price stays.
Guest boarders, 2026/27: €3,100 a month / €37,200 for twelve months; €3,600 a month if the stay is under a year. Aufnahmegebühr €250.

A first-year boarder entering in 7–9 is not “about 31,140.” It is €250 + €31,140 before Nebenkosten. We did not find a 2026/27 Hinterlegungsgeld on the live kosten table — older August 2025 payment PDFs printed €800. Ask which document you are signing.
The page says 30% of pure school and Externat costs may be deductible as Sonderausgaben, subject to law, and that boarding care costs can be certified to age 14. That is the school’s tax sentence, not advice.
Scholarships. For day families the printed principle is that Schulgeld should not stop a Kolleg place. Apply to the Kollegsdirektor, kollegsdirektor@kolleg-st-blasien.de. The committee decides in early July for the next year. One year at a time. Sibling reduction: informal email, also yearly. Boarders: a conversation with the Kollegsdirektor on the presentation day. Guest pupils and boarding Euroklasse pupils cannot apply. The Sozialfonds is limited. Donors the page names: parents, alumni, the Archdiocese of Freiburg, the Jesuit order, and the Stiftung Kolleg St. Blasien.
The Abitur. This is not an IB house. Families who want a travelling English diploma should walk Salem or an international, then come back to this valley if the paper they actually want is German.
Swiss families: the home page has a door “Mit deutschem Abitur in der Schweiz studieren.” Confirm recognition with the Swiss faculty this child would enter. We will not invent it.
Ask whether this child would be day from 5 or boarding from 7. Ask which 2026/27 price step the entry year is, and whether an earlier entry would lock the cheaper line. Ask what the Euroklasse actually sits. Ask what Nebenkosten looked like last year for this year group. Ask whether a Sozialfonds place is open. Ask what happens if the posting ends in March. If you are buying a bed, come on a Sunday in November.
We are not ranking this school against Salem. We are not guessing a waitlist.
