International Bilingual School of Provence is a private bilingual day and boarding school at Domaine des Pins, 500 Route de Bouc-Bel-Air, 13080 Luynes, in the Aix-en-Provence area. Contact: ibsofprovence.com, +33 4 42 240 340.

Day pupils can start at age 2 and continue through Terminale, the final secondary year. Boarding starts in 6ème, the first year of French lower secondary school. Weekly and full boarding have different fees; families should confirm which arrangement covers the time their child needs to stay.

Programmes and languages

IBS offers a French Baccalauréat route and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB). The school describes the French route as roughly one third of courses in English and two thirds following French national programmes. The IB Diploma involves six subjects and a common core. Ask how the proposed route builds on your child’s previous studies and language level.

French as a foreign language (FLE) costs €2,500; English language support (EAL) costs €1,995. The official fee sheet describes the €3,120 IB academic supplement as annual, although the webpage places it under a two-year programme heading. It excludes final-year IB examination fees. IGCSEs, international secondary examinations, are also billed separately; English and Mathematics are compulsory in Pre-IB 2nde.

Admissions

Applications are online. Secondary applicants need a teacher recommendation, reports from the current and previous school year, a student motivation letter, passport and photograph. The school may accept, decline or wait-list an application, or request further reports, examinations or an interview.

Current families re-enrol in February before places for new pupils can be confirmed. New applicants receive final confirmation in March or later. Enrolment is guaranteed only once the signed contract and first payment have been received. That payment comprises the entrance fee, enrolment fee and first month’s tuition; applying alone does not secure a place.

Annual fees for 2026/27

The tables use the official bilingual fee sheet. For 4ème day pupils it lists €15,950, matching the English webpage; the French webpage instead shows €15,350. Confirm that amount in the contract before paying.

Is it a good fit?

IBS is worth considering for families who want French–English education with a choice of French Bac or IB, and who can manage the private-school budget and journey to Luynes. Boarding widens the practical options from 6ème, but weekly and full boarding are not interchangeable.

For a public international lycée from Seconde, compare Lycée Georges Duby and its separate admission requirements. Before deciding on IBS, clarify the academic route, language support, boarding coverage and a complete child-specific fee quotation. Try the Luynes journey at the times your family would actually travel.
