Maastricht is not “the international school.” It is a Limburg city whose Dutch basisscholen are allowed to be first, plus one official English-facing door posting families name in the first week.
The portrait we have is UWC Maastricht at Discusworp 65. Use it for the 2026–27 euros — day PYP €8,360, MYP €12,260, DP/CP €12,690, residential €43,575. This note is the city around it. The Netherlands country page is the wider map.
Day pupils live in the Maastricht border region with their families. Residential is 16–19, DP or CP, selected through UWC International. The FAQ says this is not a typical boarding school. No day scholarship. No sibling discount.
Walk it, then a municipal yard.
If you might stay, an English IB is not automatically the kindest paper. A basisschool that already knows the street — that is an official morning. The Hague is another posting. Amsterdam is another matching form.
The language of the yard is the test.
Ask whether this child is a day commuter or a residential UWC applicant. Confirm the live 2026–27 line, not last year’s.
The city hub is the short map. The UWC portrait is the long one.
Friendly orientation, not formal admissions advice. Always confirm dates with the school.
A United World College in Limburg, not a Randstad commute. Day fees for 2026–27 sit on the official page. The residential year for 16–19 is a different door and a different bill.
WassenaarThe name says The Hague. The campus is in Wassenaar. Fees for 2026–27 are on the official tuition page, including the Grade 9–12 band. Read that page before you budget.
AmsterdamThis is not ISA in Amstelveen. AICS is a Dutch subsidised international in the Esprit group — South and Sandcastle. Fees are a fraction of a private IB invoice. Dutch-passport-only families must meet the government’s two-of-three-years-abroad rule, or a written plan to leave within two years.
Bergen NHThis is a Type 1 European School in Bergen, Noord-Holland, not the Accredited European School in The Hague and not an IB campus in Amsterdam. The leaving diploma is the European Baccalaureate. Category I staff children are fee-exempt. The school prints a 2026/27 table. The Board prints another.
The letters on the leaver’s certificate matter. They are not the whole child. Here is how to tell them apart without a headache, and without pretending every door stays open.
16 minYou do not need a perfect algorithm. You need a few true things about your child, a boring list on the fridge, and the courage to ignore a beautiful campus that does not fit.
15 minTuition is the number on the homepage. The PDF is the number that arrives in March. Here is how to read the second one, without inventing a euro, a krona, or a deadline.
12 minSkip the question about last year’s average. Ask the ones that make a teacher’s face change. Then look at the corridor while they answer.
