Barcelona is not one American campus in Esplugues. It is that house, a British-Catalan day school in Sarrià, and an American-then-IB campus against Collserola. Ask how much Catalan the week actually holds.
Barcelona is not “the international school.” It is a Catalan city whose public and concertado mornings are allowed to be first, plus three official English-facing doors posting families name in the first week.
The portraits we have are the American School of Barcelona in Esplugues, Oak House on Sant Pere Claver, and Benjamin Franklin International School on Martorell i Peña. Use them for what the pages actually print. ASB publishes family and corporate lists. Oak House prints a €3,500 admission fee and no annual tuition we could read. BFIS has Individual and Corporate tabs without euros as text. We will not invent the missing lines. This note is the city between them. They share a metropolitan Tuesday and almost no Monday. Walk at least two, then a neighbourhood institut.
If you might stay, an English diploma is not automatically the kindest paper. Catalan in the patio is not a flag on the homepage. Families looking at ASB often also walk a concertado or a municipal door, because the next five years may still be here.
The language of the yard is the test. A child can thrive in English at 9 a.m. and still be lonely at 11 if the park is speaking Catalan — or the other way around.
Madrid is another ring road. Alicante is a European School, not a Sarrià commute. Do not flatten Spain into two capitals.
Ask which paper this child will hold — US diploma, IB, Bachillerato, or a Catalan path. Ask Oak House and BFIS for this year’s tuition in writing. Ask ASB what Catalan looks like in Year 8, not only in preschool.
