A non-profit American day campus in Pozuelo, not Soto and not La Moraleja. The school prints two tuition columns — family and corporate — plus a capital fee. Confirm the academic year on that page before you budget.

The American School of Madrid is a co-educational day campus at Calle América 3, 28224 Pozuelo de Alarcón. Switchboard +34 917 40 19 00. The school calls itself a non-profit: 100% of tuition income stays in the classroom, and more than 70% of the budget goes to teachers, on the tuition page’s own sentences. Founded in 1961, on the scholarship page’s founder story.

This is not King’s College Soto and not Runnymede. Those are British doors on the north side. ASM is an American campus in Pozuelo with an IB programme also named in the nav. The admissions welcome is specific about the yard: one third American, one third Spanish, and one third from some 60 other countries.

The useful questions are: Will this child hold a US diploma, the IB, or both? Can you live with Pozuelo at 8:00, not Soto? And are you a family payer or a corporate payer? The euro columns are not the same.

Who it is for

Families on a US or mixed posting who want an American clock in Madrid. Families who will actually live in the west/northwest of the city. Families who can read a capital fee of €8,100 for EC5–12 on top of tuition.

It will not board anyone. If you need A-Levels, walk Runnymede or King’s. If you need a school that will invent a waitlist for you, keep walking — we will not either.

Financial aid is needs-based, limited, and temporary, for sudden difficulty, via admissions@asmadrid.es. A separate Scholarship Fund is for exceptional Upper School students from Grade 9, covering up to 75% of tuition and fees. The page we read said 2026/27 applications closed 23 February 2026. The campus you can actually picture

Pozuelo de Alarcón, not the centre. Lower, middle and upper school sit on the campus the school is also planning forward (“Our Future Campus” is a live nav item — ask what is built now). Bus service is a published annual extra and includes a late bus for after-school programmes.

Ask to see Grade 3 and Grade 10, not only the welcome hall. Time the M-40 from the flat you will actually rent.

How the years are organised

Lower School (EC3 upward), Middle School, Upper School. An IB Programme page sits in the academics nav beside Spanish and college counseling. Confirm on the current IB page whether this child would sit the full Diploma, certificates, or the American diploma alone. We will not invent a 2026–27 course list.

The Class of 2026 destination note on the admissions page names offers including Columbia, Cornell, Georgetown, LSE, ESADE and Bocconi. That is one leaving class the school chose to print, not a promise.

How a child actually gets in

Application fee €250 per child, non-refundable, covers processing and testing. The requirements page and the process/timeline pages hold the rest — read those. We will not invent a closing date the extract did not print. Open days exist on campus and virtual, through the year.

The tuition page did not label the table “2026–27” in the text we could read. The figures below are what that page printed when we researched it in September 2026. Confirm the year on the live page before you budget.

Sibling reduction: 10% for the third child, 20% for additional children, on tuition and the one-time enrolment fee. Mid-year entry is prorated. Payment: annual, semester, or monthly (monthly adds 4% per semester). Payments accepted in euros or US dollars at the rate of the day.

Withdrawal refunds are by calendar days enrolled in a 150-day semester: 1–5 days 78%; 6–20 70%; 21–35 55%; 36–50 38%; 51–65 22%; 66–80 10%; 80+ 0%.

A first-year Grade 6 family place is not “about €23,000.” It is application + registration + capital + matriculation + the annual band + bus and cafeteria if you use them. Do the sum on the live page.

What to ask on the stairs

Ask whether you are a family or corporate file before you quote a number at dinner. Ask how much Spanish the patio actually uses in Grade 5. Ask whether the IB is a path or a poster for this child. Walk Soto and La Moraleja the same week if a British paper is also on the list.

What we are not claiming

We are not ranking ASM against Runnymede. We are not labelling the unsigned table as 2026–27. Read the current tuition page before you sign a Pozuelo lease. This is a map. The school still has to be the right Tuesday.
