A Sarrià day house next to Collserola, not Esplugues. British, Catalan and IB sit in the same week. The school prints a €3,500 admission fee and what lunch includes. It does not print an annual tuition figure on the public fees page. We will not invent one.

Oak House School is a co-educational day school at Sant Pere Claver 12–18, 08017 Barcelona, in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, next to Collserola. Switchboard +34 932 524 020. sec@oakhouseschool.com. Founded 1968. The school calls itself a private non-profit charitable foundation. A Board of Governors of seven parents is named on the fees page. Surplus is reinvested. There are no shareholders.

This is not the American School of Barcelona in Esplugues. ASB is an American diploma plus IB, west of the city. Oak House is in the city, British-authorised in the early years, Catalan-system secondary, then a choice of Bachillerato or IB Diploma. Walk both in one week if that is your map. They share a metropolitan area and not a patio language.

The useful questions are: Do you want a Catalan secondary that still sits IGCSE, or an American campus in Esplugues? Can you live with Sarrià at 8:00? And will you ask admissions for this year’s tuition table, because the public fees page does not print one we could read?

Who it is for

Families who want English, Spanish and Catalan in the same childhood, and a leaving paper that can be IB or Spanish Bachillerato. Families who can accept a foundation that is frank about lunch being compulsory and wrap-around care being included.

It will not board anyone. If you need a US high-school diploma as the main paper, walk ASB. If you need a school that publishes a full euro table on the open web, ask Oak House for the current sheet — do not take a forum number.

The campus you can actually picture

Sarrià, not Eixample. Early years 3–4, primary 5–11 in a dedicated primary building, secondary 12–16, then a Bachillerato/IB building opened in 2015 with a green roof the facilities page is proud of. Bus routes the school names: Vila Olímpica, Gran Via / Plaça Espanya, and Sant Cugat / the upper area — confirm today’s list with Autocares Mesa.

Ask to see Year 1 of ESO and the IB corridor, not only the park view. Time the hill from the flat you will actually rent.

How the years are organised

Early years and primary. The school’s own about-copy, and the British-school language it uses, say the early years are authorised as a British school in Spain (British Council inspection, NABSS membership appear on third-party descriptions; confirm on the current policies page). Teaching is English, Spanish and Catalan.

Secondary. The school says the secondary department complies with the Catalan system and prepares Cambridge IGCSE as well as Cambridge English exams. A fourth language (French or German) enters in the first year of ESO on the school’s own programme language.

16–18. Bachillerato and/or IB Diploma (taught in English). The home page quotes the class of 2025 IB average as 36. That is one cohort the school printed, not a promise. The same page also reprints newspaper ranking lines. We are not a ranking site. Ignore those medals. Ask what this child’s Tuesday looks like.

How a child actually gets in

Reception to Post-16. After the file, the school invites either an informal assessment with the Head of Studies and Inclusion and Wellbeing Lead, or a formal academic assessment and interview in Mathematics, English, Spanish, and Catalan if required. Then a time-limited offer if a place exists. If not, a waiting list — the school will notify you. We will not invent how long it is.

If you accept: documentation plus the €3,500 admission-process fee to secure the place.

Priority groups the apply page names: siblings already at Oak House; children of staff; children of alumni; former students returning. Those children still have to access the curriculum. Reports and references are always requested. The main allocation factor is the date the application is submitted and how the family moves through the process — plus reports, languages, and whether parents support the school’s values.

Money — what the public page actually prints

The fees page does not publish an annual tuition figure we could read as text. We will not invent one. Ask admissions for this year’s table. What the page does print:

Included (school’s list): tuition, compulsory lunch, wrap-around care 08:00–09:00 and 16:20–18:15, day trips (not overnight), first sitting of named official exams (Cambridge, Instituto Francés, Goethe-Institut, IGCSE, IB DP, official EBAU fees) within the established timing.

Not included: uniforms, bus, extracurriculars, school material, overnight trips, the insurance and AFA/yearbook lines above, and university applications that need references or essay help.

Insurance is mandatory. It covers tuition if an insured parent dies or is permanently disabled, until the student finishes at Oak House. External policies are not accepted for that purpose.

What to ask on the stairs

Ask for the live tuition table in writing. Ask how much Catalan a new twelve-year-old really meets in the first term. Ask whether this child is a Bachillerato or an IB Tuesday at 16. Walk ASB in Esplugues the same week if the leaving paper might need to stay American.

What we are not claiming

We are not ranking Oak House among IB schools. We are not inventing an annual fee the public page omitted. We are not treating a 2025 IB average as a forecast. Read the current fees and apply pages, and ask for the missing euro line, before you resign a Sarrià flat. This is a map. The school still has to be the right Tuesday.
