It is not Zurich International School in Wädenswil and Adliswil. Same canton. Almost no Monday. ZIS sits on the lake shore south of the city. ICS sits in Zumikon, east of the lake. Time both roads.
The 2026–27 Admissions Handbook calls ICS Zurich’s longest-established international day school, welcoming families since 1960, with about 800 students across Nursery, Primary, Middle and Diploma. Treat those as the school’s own photographs.
The useful questions are: Does Lex Aeppli apply to this child in Kindergarten through Grade 4? And have you added the capital fund — CHF 5,000 from Pre-Kindergarten, CHF 1,000 in Nursery — because it sits beside the first year?
Families who want an English IB week in the Zurich area and who can live with Zumikon, not Bahnhofstrasse.
PYP, MYP, Diploma. English in the classroom. EAL in Primary is included in tuition, the handbook says. From Grade 9 the school will not take English beginners. We will not invent which Diploma courses run this year.
Lex Aeppli is a Zurich-canton rule. If the child enters from a local Swiss school, or from Kindergarten to Grade 4, the family may need proof of international mobility or a non-German education. After five years the child may have to move to a local Swiss school, or you seek a cantonal exemption. If you do not live in the canton, the handbook says the rule does not apply. Ask admissions whether it applies to this child.
It will not suit a family hunting a municipal Volksschule that charges nothing at the door, or a Wädenswil Tuesday they have not timed. Walk those if that is the climate.
Strubenacher 3, Zumikon. A day school. There is no boarding house. A bus exists; it is invoiced separately.
Application fee CHF 500, non-refundable, before the file is read. The handbook’s priority order: company-partnership families already on roll, then other partnership families, then siblings, alumni children, international families, local families, staff children. First come, first served inside that list. We will not invent a waitlist length.
Sixty percent of tuition is due in August 2026, forty percent in January 2027. An instalment plan exists with a 2% administration charge; write billing@icsz.ch.

Entry fees: application CHF 500; capital fund CHF 1,000 Nursery / CHF 5,000 Pre-Kindergarten or higher. The first CHF 1,000 of capital is due on accepting an offer. Nursery moving into Pre-Kindergarten is invoiced the remaining CHF 4,000.
Tuition, the PDF says, includes essential materials, devices from Grade 3 to 8, up to four periods a week of additional learning support, mandatory curricular trips, and IB/DP exams. Bus, extra learning support, after-school care, lunch after Nursery, clubs, instrument hire and remarking of IB papers are invoiced separately.
We are not ranking ICS against ZIS. We are not calling 1960 a medal. We are not inventing whether Lex Aeppli bites this family. We are not treating “about 800” as a census we counted.
Ask whether Zumikon is the Tuesday you can live. Ask whether Year 12 is the full Diploma. Add the capital fund. Time Strubenacher and the Wädenswil lake road on the same wet Tuesday.
