UWC Red Cross Nordic, a two-year IB residential college in Flekke, not Oslo

This is a two-year IB residential college on a Vestland fjord, not a Bekkestua through-train and not International School of Bergen. National committees select most students. The college does not publish a GSP full-fee table. The Vestland FAQ still prints a 2025–26 family contribution, not a 2026 line.

UWC Red Cross Nordic is a co-educational residential two-year IB Diploma college at Hauglandsvegen 304, 6968 Flekke, in Fjaler, Vestland — not an Oslo day campus and not International School of Bergen in Sandsli. It is boarding. The Vestland page also names day places for local youths, then adds that living at home is only hypothetical unless you are very close, and that you would miss the residential life. A fjord Tuesday is the honest tour, not a Bekkestua open evening.

It is not Oslo International School. It is not UWC Adriatic in Duino. If a pack says “the Norwegian IB boarding,” ask which legal name is on the door, and whether the child is sixteen.

The useful questions are UWC-and-Vestland questions. Has this child already opened a file with a National Committee, or is the family a GSP full-fee file with no scholarship, or a Vestland resident applying for one of three August 2026 places? And do you understand that the college does not print a public GSP tuition table — and that an old theme-demo prices page is not one?

Who it is for

Ages 16–19. English is the language of the Diploma. The how-to-apply page: all 18 UWC colleges teach the IB Diploma in these two pre-university years.

Statutes, as that page prints them: 30% of places go to students from the Nordic region; the rest from the wider world. Full and partial scholarships go to National Committees. The Nordic states sponsor the house; the college wants students who would not usually receive this education at home or abroad.

Rektor from 1 August 2025, as the appointment news and the management page print it: Natasha Lambert. She taught IB Philosophy and Spanish, was Director of Academics from 2019 and Deputy Rektor from 2022. Queen Sonja is named as patron on the management page.

It will not suit a family hunting a Bekkestua IB continuum, a Sandsli PYP-to-MYP house that stops at Grade 10, or a place for a twelve-year-old. Walk those if that is the climate. Sixteen is a different admissions story from six.

Three doors, as the college prints them

National Committee. Apply in the country of residence or citizenship. Needs-based scholarships are often available. Dates belong to the committee, not to Flekke. The how-to-apply page still talks about entry 2025 in that paragraph. Write the live committee. The UWC International Office, the college says, does not process applications.

Global Selection Programme. A limited number of full fee-paying places. No scholarships on that route. Applicants who choose GSP forgo financial assistance. The GSP page points to UWC International. It does not print a krone or euro full-fee line. We will not invent one. We will not reprint leftover theme-demo prices from an old URL. Write admissions@uwcrcn.no.

Vestland Fylkeskommune partnership. Only for youths living in Vestland. Three IB Diploma places for entry in August 2026. Application on the college page: opened 25 October 2025, closed 2 March 2026. That window is already history for 2026 entry. Ask the live page for the next cycle.

Vestland eligibility, as the page prints it: 16 or 17 on 1 August of the start year; attending Norwegian VG1 or the final year of IB MYP at the deadline; resident of Vestland in the Folkeregister; eligible for Lånekassen videregående stipend with ungdomsrett for the next two years. Written application, then interview if you reach the second round. These places do not need to go via VIGO, the page says — but candidates should still apply for other study places on VIGO.

Money, as the pages actually print it

Most students arrive through National Committees on full or partial scholarships. We will not invent a committee award.

GSP. Full fee, no assistance. No public table. Ask admissions. Do not use a demo price.

Vestland scholarship. Education covered by Lånekassen and Vestland Fylkeskommune. Lånekassen money is paid to the college. If you live on campus you pay a small family contribution (eigenandel). The FAQ’s own sentence: for the 2025–2026 school year that contribution is NOK 48,000. We will not reprint that krone as 2026–27. Ask what this August prints.

Travel, pocket money, and university applications are not priced on these pages. Ask. We will not invent them.

The fjord you can actually picture

Flekke, Fjaler, a Vestland fjord, not a Bergen suburb and not Oslo. Hauglandsvegen 304. The college still hosts its own video portfolio — arriving, walking in, the student village, Iceland House, Silent House, a biology class. Those clips are theirs. The page dates them 2014. That is an old official walk-through, not this year’s tour.

We will not invent a bus from Førde or Bergen airport. Ask the “how to get here” page, and time the last stretch in November dark.

The IB Diploma, taught in English. We will not invent a points average the pages we opened do not print.

What to ask on the stairs

Ask which of the three doors this passport actually belongs to. Ask whether the family is a scholarship file or a GSP full-fee file with no published number. Ask, if Vestland, whether the eigenandel for the year you would enter has been printed yet — the FAQ still shows 2025–26. Ask who the guardian story is if this is not a Vestland day pupil. Ask how a shy sixteen-year-old lives on a fjord campus. Ask what happens in the long winter break.

We are not inventing a GSP fee. We are not calling this a Bergen day school. We are not ranking Flekke against Bekkestua.
