It is a day school. There is no boarding house. If the posting has not found a flat, this school will not absorb the child.

The inscriptions page names EUIPO first among Category I families. That is why this house sits on the Alicante coast. Time Playa de San Juan at the hour you would actually travel. It is not La Moraleja.

The useful questions are: Are you Category I, II, or III? Which language section is this child’s dominant language — German, Spanish, French or English — not the language you wish they had? And do you understand that the leaving paper is the European Baccalaureate, not the IB?

Who it is for

The European Schools were set up for children of people who work for a European institution. Everyone else applies into remaining places.

Category I — a parent employed directly and continuously by a European institution or assimilated organisation for at least one year. Fee-exempt on the minerval. Confirm the employer letter. EUIPO staff use the institution intranet.

Category II — a signed contract with a company or organisation that pays the real cost of the place. The 2026/27 Board table prints a new-contract Alicante line of €15,067.04. The current-contract cell is still tba. Ask which contract this employer actually has.

Category III — other families, if places remain, inside the European Schools rules. They pay the minerval the Board sets each year. New Category III files for 2026–27 were only open 17 April to 8 May 2026, 16:00. The inscriptions page now prints that window as closed. Applications outside that window are not considered. Category I and II may apply during the year.

It will not suit a family hunting a British campus north of Madrid, or a concertado in the same postcode. Walk those if that is the climate. They share a country and almost no Monday.

The campus you can actually picture

One Playa de San Juan address, not a Madrid ring-road. Nursery in the September of the calendar year the child turns 4. Primary 1 the year they turn 6. As a rule, later years follow the same age plus the matching extra years. In principle no child is admitted more than two years above the normal age — three years for secondary 4 to 6.

The inscriptions page: the school will not organise open days or visits before admission. It will not offer in-person Category III information appointments. Read the site first. Only then call +34 965 26 95 95, 9:00–13:00, if a real doubt remains.

It is a day school. There is no boarding house.

Languages

Four sections, as the inscriptions page prints them: German, Spanish, French, English. Apply in the child’s mother tongue or dominant language. The Director may set comparative language tests, even in nursery. Place the child in the language they actually live in. A wish is not a section.

How a child actually gets in

The inscriptions page is blunt: European Schools do not allow pre-enrolment and do not keep a waiting list. Treat that as the school’s own sentence.

Pupils already in the house stay enrolled for the next year without applying again.

Category I (EUIPO and other institutions) and Category II. EUIPO staff: the institution intranet. Other institutions: Beatriz Font. They may apply during the year.

New Category III without a sibling already in the school. For 2026–27 the window was 17 April–8 May 2026, 16:00. Read the 2026–27 enrolment policy and the circular on which years and sections were actually open. The online form only showed classes with a seat. After the deadline the Director wrote by email only. The school considers files for at least one full school year.

Money, as the 2026/2027 pages print it

Category I pays no Board minerval.

The Category III page reprints the Board table and the 25% advance. The Board holds exclusive power on fees; if it later changes the numbers, that decision prevails.

The remaining 75% is due before 30 November 2026. On written request to the Director before 15 October 2026, that October invoice can be split into three: before 31 October 2026, 31 January 2027, 31 March 2027. Ask each year, by email to ALI-BILLING@eursc.eu, before 15 October. Late requests are not accepted. Bank transfer only. No cash.

The European Baccalaureate. This is not the IB and not the Spanish Bachillerato. Ask with this child’s subjects and section.

What to ask on the stairs

Ask the category in the week the posting is real. Ask which section is the child’s dominant language. Ask whether a Category III seat exists next year, because the 2026 window is already closed. Ask which fee document will be on the first invoice. Ask what the common-expense line becomes for this cycle. Ask what happens if the posting ends in November: Category III is a full-year file.

We are not ranking Alicante against Madrid. We are not inventing a waitlist — the school says it does not keep one.
