TASIS Portugal is a co-educational English-medium day school at Estrada Nacional No 9, Quinta da Beloura II, 2710-697 Sintra. Official site tasisportugal.org. It sits in Quinta da Beloura, in the Sintra municipality, not on the Carcavelos sand and not on CAISL’s Linhó campus. Same western conversation. Almost no Monday. It is not St. Julian’s by the water, not St. Dominic’s in São Domingos de Rana, not OIS in a Barcarena valley, and not United Lisbon in the city.
It is a day school. There is no boarding house.
The school calls itself an American international and the newest house in the TASIS family. The about page says it was founded in 2020, and that the first TASIS school opened in Lugano in 1956. Governance sits with the TASIS Foundation, a Swiss-based non-profit. That is ownership weather, not a ranking.
The May 2025 admissions policy is signed by Keith Chicquen, Headmaster. Confirm the live name on the visit.
The useful questions are: Do you want an American core — Core Knowledge, Singapore Math, MAP — then Cambridge IGCSE, then the IB Diploma, on the Sintra side rather than Linhó? Can you live with Quinta da Beloura in January? And have you opened this year’s tuition sheet — because the public tuition page did not give us a yearly table we can quote, and we will not invent it.
Families who want English from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, an American lower-school habit that is not CAISL, and a leaving conversation that is the IB Diploma rather than a Portuguese exame nacional. The home page, when we opened it, said nearly 1,000 students and 65 nationalities. The May 2025 policy said 61 nationalities and more than 40 home languages. Treat both as the school’s own snapshots, not a census we counted.
The policy calls TASIS Portugal a mainstream academic school that welcomes applications from students with disabilities or special educational needs if they can access the curriculum at the speed it is taught. Inclusive is not automatic. Disclose what you know before the visit.
It will not suit a family hunting a British IGCSE-then-IB week in Carcavelos, a full IB continuum in São Domingos de Rana, or a city campus on Marechal Gomes da Costa. Walk those portraits if that is the climate.
The home page says every member of the Class of 2026 pursued the full IB Diploma. That is the school’s sentence about one cohort. It is not a league score.
Quinta da Beloura, Sintra — inland from Cascais, not Linhó and not the Baixa. Time Estrada Nacional 9 at 7:40 in January, then Linhó the same week. The road is the first honest number.
We will not invent a hectare count, a former shopping-centre story, or a second campus on Alameda do Linhó. The address the community and apply pages print is Beloura. Ask which building this child would actually stand in.
Portuguese is a subject, not the classroom language. In Elementary, the policy says English Language Development replaces Portuguese for students who need it. Ask how much Portuguese a new twelve-year-old actually meets before Christmas. Do not assume a colégio yard.
Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. The live curriculum page names these frameworks:
Social-emotional work is named too: ELLI, the Toolbox Project, and Wayfinder. Languages, music, chess, and public speaking sit in the same curriculum copy. MAP testing, the policy says, runs twice a year, autumn and spring.
The May 2025 admissions PDF still describes 2023–24 as Pre-K to Grade 10, with 11 and 12 still being added, and still uses candidate-school language for the IB Diploma. The live curriculum page, when we opened it, calls TASIS Portugal an authorized IB World School for the DP. Ask which sentence is current if this child is entering Grade 11. We will not pick the flattering one for you.
Internal candidates, the policy says, need six IGCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths, to begin the Diploma. Higher-level options are encouraged for students with A grades. External Grade 11 applicants meet the IBDP coordinator. Grade 10 entry is only for students already on the IGCSE path, if course continuity can be guaranteed.
PK1: three years old before 1 September, toilet trained, able to spend 09:00–15:00. Kindergarten: fifth birthday before 1 September. Two teachers per class in Grades 1–4; Grade 5 has one homeroom teacher plus specialists.

The wait pool is not a ranked waitlist. The policy says the committee looks at gender and language balance, siblings, and academic achievement. Siblings in the wait pool are given priority over other students.
December early admission: complete the file by 1 December; decisions 8 December; reply by 15 December and pay the Campus Enhancement Fee plus the enrolment agreement. Only families who intend to enrol if admitted should ask for this path. Spaces are limited because re-enrolment is still uncertain.
Regular admission waits until current families finish re-enrolment on 15 February. Rolling offers continue after that until the class is full. Early Learning classes (PK1, PK2, Kindergarten) are offered rolling through the year until full; siblings first.
TASIS Portugal, the policy says, does not pay commission or finder’s fees to agents. Confirm the live how-to-apply page for which grades are expanding this year. We will not invent a January priority date the PDF does not print.

CEF and the Pre-K deposit are not refundable. If the school does not invite the child back, unused CEF is returned after the year ends.
Withdrawal needs one term’s notice. Late fees: 4% in the first 30 days, then 4% per month. Students with unpaid balances are not eligible to re-enrol.
A “leave of absence” does not hold the place. Returning families send updated reports; the old CEF still counts; the €750 re-enrolment fee still applies.
We are not ranking TASIS against CAISL, St. Julian’s, or St. Dominic’s. We are not inventing 2026–27 tuition, lunch, or bus. We are not treating the 2023–24 CEF as this year’s number. We are not resolving the IB candidate sentence in the May 2025 PDF against the live authorized curriculum page — ask the school. We are not calling the TASIS name a quality medal.
Ask for this year’s tuition overview in writing. Ask whether this child is entering a class that is already full, and what the wait pool has meant for families like yours. Ask how much Portuguese remains once ELD starts. Ask which IB sentence is current. Ask what six IGCSE C grades has meant for a child who arrived mid-IGCSE.
Time Beloura on a wet Tuesday. Then walk Linhó, then a colégio, in the same week. The lanche is still the honest tour.
